I thought I'd share this one... After playing around with the settings in KDE 4.4 and changing the fonts with the "adjust all fonts" option among other things, the descriptions alongside the icons in the Kickoff style menu were gone. The icons were there, and in the classic menu everything appeared normal. Solution: I reset my fonts to default, and the descriptions are back.
