My problem is the same and my home is also remotely mounted, NFS, without root access. So we seem to have pinpointed the problem. Has anybody created a bug report for this yet? Or found a workaround?

Aaah! It's taking over! I zoomed out and back in on a different Activity, changed the wallpaper, and now the "Zoom Out" option on the top right thingy is GONE! I'm stuck! I can't get back to my original activity/desktop (What exactly is the difference, by the way?)

While exploring and fiddling around with KDE4, I clicked the little thingy in the top right corner of the desktep, and clicked "Add Activity". OK, I did it a bunch of times. Now, when I zoom out, I have about 6 'desktops' next to each other. How do I get rid of them again?? I haven't yet seen a "Delete Activity" button....
