The unmaintained plasma-widget-quickaccess 0.8.1 did not respect the maximum panel icon size since KDE 4.5 - and now it even does not compile with KDE SC 4.6+ anymore. So here I announce a new maintenance fork. The version 0.8.2 respects the panel icon size settings and adjusts accordingly in higher panels and it compiles fine on KDE SC 4.6 & 4.7. Source is available here: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=134442 Arch linux already uses it: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=188...
Is KDE4 capable of using animated icons? I mean something like MNGs which are either shown as default icon or alternatively when one hovers over the icon (in the panel, in dolphin, in folderview). KDE2 or early 3 was able to use MNGs.
Did you find it in the meantime? If not and if it's still relevant: it is "Clean-Blend", shown in systemsettings as "Blend".
The script does have the executable flag? Does the script work when you execute it from command line?
Maybe it has something to do with alphatransparency and compositing? KDE4 doesn't support fake transparency anymore. I had the same problem with gdeskcal, it just looks awful in KDE4.
Did a "cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr && make" and used checkinstall to build a deb package. Installed fine and I can add it to my desktop via the Add Widget Dialog (it's in the list of installed widgets: konsole terminal session). You don't need to add it through the install new widget dialog if you execute a make install or checkinstall after cmake. Have another problem with it: It only adds a plasmoid container without content - no konsole in it. Installed is /usr/lib/kde4/plasma_applet_ko...
I guess this doesn't have to do anything with Forum Feedback and besides is a crosspost so this thread should be deleted I propose.
Try running systemsettings as root, either with kdesu or kdesudo. You can also invoke the login manager directly: kdesu kcmshell4 kdm If that doesn't work you might add dbus-launch: kdesu dbus-launch kcmshell4 kdm
And for this comment you revive a 10 month old thread? But i find it interesting how much things at least for me changed since then. I still would choose KDE3 if it would be a separate actively maintained desktop but I have learned to live with KDE4, even with the kickoff menu, which still is a design mess. Even beginners tell me they get irritated by this menu because by clicking on the categories the categories vanish - and they close it to restart the menu instead of using the back bar which ...
Didn't I reply to this?? You have to disable compositing to get the things opaque. Alas the amount of transparency (or non-transparency) isn't configurable anymore in KDE4, everything is in the theme's hands. When the theme has a semi-transparent panel it is semi-transparent until you turn all desktop effects off. Edit: Oh, you fooled me. You did a crossposting...
Did you find a solution? Inceasing the size of the icons should help but I hope there's another solution too.
Or you change the role of the desktop from standard plasma desktop to classic folderview (righclick on desktop).
If you want an opaque panel turn off compositing = the desktop effects of kwin. Alas this isn't configurable anymore.
That depends on how your KDE3 desktop looked like. You can use the folder view as desktop instead of the plasma desktop, you can ban all plasmoids from the desktop (I'd keep the panel), you can use the alternative classic menu (which is a plasmoid), you can have different wallpapers for your desktops when you bind them to activities (but you cannot show those wallpapers in the pager), you can use any other window decoration, style or icon theme - but it must match the KDE4 requirements, so you m...
Is there anybody out there who can tell me how I can open the dialog to change the wallpaper with a command? This one, which opens through the desktop context menu: http://imagebin.ca/view/2AGi7jHx.html I don't want any command to change the wallpaper, I just need the command to open that window. I looked at "kcmshell4 --list" but there doesn't seem to be a matching command.
When I try to enter the german forum I get a "Fatal error: Invalid SQL: DELETE FROM wcf5_session" - any idea?
