I have to agree to the original post to some degree. I don't think this has anything to do with the installed defaults. It's simple common sense. It seems the Linux community will sometimes refuse to do something that may have been done in Windows simply because it is in Windows. Not necessarily because it's a bad idea. Is it really necessary to pre-pend a K to every single app out there designed for the KDE environment? I don't think it was a simple matter that some apps are easily identifiable...
I'm a Windows user trying to make the switch to Linux. I originally installed Ubuntu 7.10, but found the GUI somewhat lacking. I then installed KDE on top of that and I find it much more intuitive. I was playing around with the various Panels on the desktop when I added an External Taskbar (seems kind of redundant by the way).
