I can catch a glimpse of the desktop just before the screen unlocking dialog appears

Under debian squeeze with KDE4.4 when I am unlocking my screen, when I shake the mouse or hit a key, when the screensaver disappears, I can catch a glimpse of the desktop, before it gets hidden again by a black screen and the unlock dialog appears. Anybody who comes to my computer and shakes the screen can see my desktop, so it kinds of partially defeats the purpose of locking the screen. I am unsure how to fill a meaningful bug report: what package and what info to provide? Regards Brice

problem unlocking the screen (somtimes)

Under debian squeeze with KDE4.4 I am using the picture slideshow wallpaper. Screen gets locked after some time of inactivity. It is sometimes difficult to unlock the screen, i.e. the unlock dialog does not appear when I shake the mouse or hit the keyboard. When this happens the wallpaper seems to be frozen as well... I am wondering how I could fill a useful bug report: what package, and what info should I provide? Regards Brice

Wrong display resolution every to xserver restart

This happens on my laptop, debian squeeze installed, with KDE 4.4 From boot to boot, the xserver starts with the wrong resolution. I usually fix it by restarting the xserver. Usually one restart is enough. I played around with restarting it again and again, it seems that the resolution is wrong every other time (2 states oscillation). I am not too sure what's the cause, whether it's a bug or a configuration problem. If somebody could give me some hints: what package is most likely to be the culp...

plasma activities and dual screen issue

Working with Debian squeeze and KDE 4.4. Sometimes I would like to connect an external monitor to my laptop's HDMI connnector, so as to enjoy the benefits of dual screen (I have a huge HD monitor at work . Using KRandTray I can easily manage the display configuration: I put the monitor to the side of the laptop's monitor. Except that the plasma activity cannot be controlled: my main activity (the one that is usually on my laptop's monitor) is relocated to the external monitor (and my widgets get...

problem with autorotation vertical pictures in screensaver and wallpaper slideshows (but not with KIPI apps)

I am using plasma's slideshow wallpaper and the slideshow screensaver to display my pictures. It's great. Except that for those pictures that were taken vertically, they don't get rotated. However, in gwenview or digikam (Kipi based) they are. Not in Kolourpaint. Is it a bug or a desired feature? If it's a bug, I'd like to fill a bug report. What are the exact packages? kscreensaver and kdeplasma-base-bin? If it's a desired feature, I'd like to suggest that the developpers add an checkbox option...

cloned monitor but two screens

I am still having the same problem, although since then I have reinstalled everything neatly. So I'll describe again: I am cloning my desktop to my TV. I am using a NVIDIA card, drivers installed by ENVY (Great tool!), and configuration done with the Nvidia Setting tool. Everything fine except that the slideshow screen saver always displays 2 pictures at the same time on both screen. As if the screen saver sees 2 desktop but doesn't see they are clones... Any idea how to solve this problem? Or i...

cloned monitor but two screens

I once setup my NVIDIA for two monitors side by side. At this time, KDE detected the setting and adjusted the Desktop configuration menu to allow me to conf each screen independently (i.e. 2 screensavers, 2 backgrounds, ...) Finally I didn't like the dual view and I configured my NVIDIA for cloned view. But KDE didn't detect that and still offers me 2 screens to configure. My 2 backgrounds overlap, so do my screensavers. Besides that no problem. How can I tell KDE that I only have one screen now...

no keyboard layout available in control center

In control center > Regional & Accessibility > Keyboard Layout there is no layout available, not a single one, not even US. I assumed I should install a package that contains keyboard layouts, but I couldn't find any. Help please?
