As someone who is using miranda when working under windows, maybe I can clarify this a bit: There is a pluggin for Miranda named "WhoIsReadingMyStatusMsgNotify", that logs when your away-message is read, and by whom, and writes it to a file. I have a couple of friends that are using Kopete, and it goes as follows: every-time they change their away-message, I get a log-entry.
