Hi, We've got an inhouse software that opens up multiple windows as needed, it works fine with older version of kwin ( v0.95, which comes with rh9, ES3 , etc ). I can open 50+ windows, and it's fine. But if I try to run or display the software on a box running ES4 ( kwin v3.0 ), the more windows I opens, the longer it takes, eventually, after 18-19 windows, it starts taking 4-5 seconds to open a window. During that delay, kdeinit: kwin is taking up 100% of the cpu and won't process any wm events...
