As a follow up everything is working great. After using KDE for over 6 years I am very impressed with Gnome and it has certainly won a convert. Tried KDE4 but still had same problems with it as I did with KDE3 and my PDA and PIM. With Gnome I can even do file transfer from my PDA to desktop and visa versa. Something I never got working with KDE. That last point could be lack of knowledge on my part. Well excuse me I have to go and set up a gnome forum account so I can assist others with my newly...
Problem solved by moving to Gnome, gpliot and evolution, works perfectly out of the box even with Blustooth, bonus. Well that doesn't solve the problem of Kpilot always crashing but it solves the problem of getting my PIM to sync with my Centro PDA. And after a few days with Evolution it's not so bad they have really improved it since I first tried it over six years ago. It's very similar to JPilot but with many more features. I guess I'll get used to it and the whole Gnome environment quickly.
Try importing. As for your emails try this: settings/account ~/.kde/share/config kmailrc. kmail.eventsrc, kmailsnippetrc, emaildefaults and emailidentities, email.eventsrc some others that are korganize and kabc names with them.
Don't have a real answer for you, did you try pairing again. You may also want to a try google search or check your distros forum site. LOL
Thanks OhReally, I have seen a ton of stuff like this but that's not the problem. I have CardExport which makes your SD card appear as a usb device and is much easier than the recommendation on the link. The problem is syncing Kontact with my Centro. If I had the time and knowledge I could probably use all the capabilities of pilot-link and I wouldn't have a problem, however I don't have the knowledge base or the time to acquire it. One option I found regularly suggested was JPilot. So I finally...
Anybody have any suggestions on getting K-Pilot to work with a Palm Centro? It has worked great for several years with my Tungsten e, but crashed hard when I try to sync with the new Centro. I thought since they were both Palm that would be the safest and easiest thing to do when replacing my PDA, man was I wrong. Thanks in advance.
Having had problems over the years with syncing with PDA and PPC a sync tool that actually works out of the box would be really wonderful. Currently having to do all kinds of import and exports between Windows and my Kubuntu to keep my Kontact up to date. K-Pilot crashes everytime when trying to sync with my Palm Centro and it makes amess of my Centro memory in the process. It really ridiculous. Almost makes me want to go back to Windows after almost ten years of Linux and KDE. But first I am go...
WOW a real stumper. I am not sure this will help, but I am using Kubuntu 7.10 on AMD 64 X2. Have 3G memory and tons of disk space. I don't think it's hardware related just some kind of config issue. Just don't know where or what any pointers would be appreciated.
My konqueror metabar shows no icons as user but as root it does? Any ideas on how to get my metabar to function properly as user? Thanks in advance.
Check in your root directory.
OK the stumpper has been solved !!!! After purging superkaramba and having everything return back as it was prior to perguing I did file search with *superkaramba* in all / and sub folders. I then deleted all the files it found. Purge does not get rid of all the files. Once that was accomplished I installed superkaramba again and all the themes. So far working good. Hope this is help to others.
Having problems. I installed liquid weather 14.8, but when I start superkaramba it shows that it running 14.7. So I removed it by uninstalling and removing the files from .superkarambe. That did nothing when I re-installed liquid weather. I then removed it again, purged superkaramba, re installed superkaramba and liquid weather, with the same results. interestingly the last configuration I had setup for liquid weather showed up instead of the default install configuration. How can I totally remo...
Try settings or schema after opening konsole.
I you noticed there is a section for Dell on the ubuntu site. Seems that some of the dell products are not linux friendly. Recently installed kubuntu 7.04 and 7.10 on a friends pc and it's having the same problems. However on my system (HP) with the almost identical hardware, they both work great. The solution on ubuntu was to lauch with kernel option reboot=b or reboot=r, you may want to look it up on the site for the details.
Check on the kubuntu site, remember something similar posted there. Can't recall specifically where but if you do a search on compiz it will come up.
Hello all, just did a fresh install of Kubuntu 7.10 (KDE3.5.. Copied what I think are the appropriate files from address book, mail, and contacts form my 7.04 (KDE 3.5.7) Kubuntu install. For the most part everything is working well however: In 3.5.7 when I was in the address book when I selected Distribution List it would show my distributions list under my contacts list/view. Now for some reason in 3.5.8 when I select to view the distribution list it opens the view right next to my contacts vi...
If you have both OS's on the same system you can import outlook form kontact. But you mentioned jump drive so I assume they are not o the same system so you could save form outlook to your jump drive and then import to contact. There is probably some way you can use sync also but I am not sure how you would do that with a jump drive. I use a Palm device and until the latest update that worked great (broken now).
I don't know of any other open source alternatives, doesn't mean there aren't any, but I tried GnuCash which worked fine on my system but the export feature which is mission critical for us is non existant in GnuCash. KMyMoney is still some what lacking in features right now so we went to MoneyDance. It not free but it is reasonably priced and a full blown accounting system that exports, imports and runs on all OS's.
System settings and window behaviors should handle those issue. Most OS's if you right mouse click on desktop will give you option to configure desktop, and K at taskbar should have some option for system settings on the menu. Hope that's of some help
Ok, no response. So how about this Can I just copy my .KDE to the other OS running KDE and would that then transfer my settings and files What I am really intrested in are my Address book, mail and contacts. I see import features but keep getting error message that can only import from local source, that has to be some setting in config but where Any ideas would be appreciated before I bomb the new install trying all kinds of wacky things
