Perhaps, this search bar isn't configurable. It's the thing, that SuSE call "menu extension". To remove all such things, I just build KDE from sources. I guess you may try following: Go to /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager and set these variables: INSTALL_DESKTOP_EXTENSIONS="no" CREATE_XDG_MENUS="false" KDE_BUILD_GLOBAL_SYCOCA="no" then run "kbuildsycoca" to rebuild KDE menu cache. This will turn back original KDE menus, instead of SuSE extensions. But. I'm not sure at all, that it will work and this...
I think this problem related to X-Server font settings. Try to play with values in /etc/X11/fs/config: default-point-size = 120 default-resolutions = 75,75,100,100
Ok, I solve this problem. The answer is to remove all $XDG_... env variables from /etc/profile, /etc/sysconfig/* files and other places, where your distro keeps its settings. XDG variables points KDE to the wrong folders, where some distros places its shared menus, additional modules and etc. If, as in my case, original SuSE KDE rpm's was not installed, this variables points to empty folders. Config changes for SuSE 10.0: /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager: INSTALL_DESKTOP_EXTENSIONS="no" CREATE_XDG_M...
Hi to All, Some time I used Gentoo 2005.0, KDE 3.4 and 3.5.1 compiled from sources. And all was fine. Recently I turned to SuSE 10.0 for some reasons. I install minimal graphical system with X and build KDE 3.5.1 from sources, as usually. But when I run KDE first (in minimal variant - arts, kdelibs, kdebase), strange problem appears. It seems that KControl cannot find kcm modules, so all configuration pages doesn't appear. Local configuration windows displayed empty too. In addition, KDE menu tu...
