I have the same problem and its very critical to find design, because panel is very huge. My desktop monitor can do 1280x1024, but my laptop - only 1024x768, and it will be impossible to work with kde on it... Any way, i used to see panel small and at the top of the screen PS is it possible to move the panel up? PPS sorry for my English, it's not my native language.
