It seems in the KDE's control center, that when i enable the powermanagment option, under Peripherals->Display, that my screensaver will work. If I disable this option, it will just automatically go to a blank screen. I have no idea what causes this response, will dig into some source and see if I can find anything. Hope this helps.

Hello, I'm having the same problem, I've tried messing w/ xscreensaver, xscreensaver-demo to no affect. Also I've tried using xset -dpms, I didn't get any results from that either. Any luck?
