Starting up KDE, I get this error from KWrite: The file /home/<myusername>/Desktop/zzz could not be loaded, as it was not possible to read from it Check if you have read access to the file At one time, this file was on my desktop, but I deleted. In KWrite, if I do File -> Open Recent, one file has a check mark to the left of it. What does this mean?

Is it possible to exit Kaffeine while in full screen mode? Afa I can see, I must first switch out of full screen mode, then exit kaffeine.
How do I get to runlevel 3? According to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runlevel Debian runlevel 3 comes with GUI, which I am guessing you don't want since your suggested command line includes startx

I am unable to connect with kvpnc using my pcf on my openSuSE 10.1 system. The log file says that the Connected failed (timeout) I have verified that I am using the correct username/password. On my SuSE 9.2 system, i connect with VPN on the command line this same pcf file. Both machine are on the same network. What could be wrong?

i have apt-get installed, but i've never used it. judging from the context of your reply, i assume it can determine dependencies. i don't think apt-get can be used to get rpms. only src or deb files.
I want to download KDE 3.5 binary for Suse 9.2 There are mirrors here: http://download.kde.org/download.php?url…/SuSE/ix86/9.2/ Clicking on any one of the mirrors gives a list of 70 or so rpms. In order to install KDE3.5, must I download each one these? Surely, this cannot be correct.
Which view profile are you using? (KDE Development, ..., Web Browsing) Check its configuraiton: Settings -> Configure View Profiles
Do you have a top level directory named 'media'? Is it the Home location in Konqueror?

hmmm...i created the group:user mysql:mysql via command line in a bash shell. So i guess kde doesn't know about this group:user If I add a group:user mysql:mysql in KDE, will this be distinct from the first group:user i created?
What is /tmp/kde-<username> and how is it created? For example, there is /tmp/kde-root/ This directory contains log files from Konqueror crashes and 2 other files, ksycoca and ksycocastamp.
