You're right the other compiler made no difference. In the end I had to just remove the troublesome package (kdesdk) from the makefile, and it went fine from then on (KDE is now running fine, very impressive too).
Hello, I've just finished building a linux system following the book at www.linuxfromscratch.org. I decided to go my own way from there, and it's gone well so far. The most recent think to be attempted is KDE 3.2. I started using konstruct, which apart from a few missing dependencies which I solved as they arose, it's been building quietly for the last 4 hours... then it stopped. The problem is one of those 'cannot convert data type x to data type y', and on looking around I see that using gcc 2...
