yes I want to use koffice so bad but most of the other users use word so im stuck really - I use it for my weekly report for others to view I have to export to PDF! but even thats a bit flaky as the fonts are a bit squiggly!! I dont like using open office it seems to slow my machine down and doesnt open up fast! but it works well with word documents! kword is fast slick intergrates well with KDE but doesnt work well with word docs!! its a nightmare!!!!!! I would use rpm drake if i was you Its not good to mix source and rpms in my experience I used to use urpmi from a command line to get new stuff like urpmi koffice Do you have a good internet connection?? also I would post this on mandrake forums or join freenode irc server and join a mandrake room and as there I use gentoo so I just type emerge sync (updated database) emerge koffice and im away!!!! im running the koffice 1.5 beta its wicked!!! kexi and kplate are new additions!!!!!!!!! Just go into options and turn auto backup off if you dont want it If kword crashes or your computer its just the last good save so kword can go back if required!
I had the same problem on gentoo I emerged aspell and ispell Not sure which its using but its working now What distro are you using??..
i see there was mention of 3.4.1 which fixes apparantly? amsn works fine for now i suppose! i just like full kde apps for intergration oh and we have the rpm facility on gentoo but we tend not to use this we emerge..... power......
