Hi, ich think you didn't configure your X Server. Or if you did it, there is a error in the XF86Config. If you have knoppix, you can use the XF86Config created when you boot with it. Dim
I like it. Especially the IceWm Theme
Take a look here: http://www.linuxprinting.org/printer_list.cgi Dim
Quoted briefly flash X server and then bump me back to the terminal in text mode Well I think your XF86config is wrong. Have you done a xf86config ? Do you use nvidia or ati 3D drivers? Dim
Hi, perhaps it's only a problem with a missing nameserver entry(DNS). Try [code:1]ping -c3 80.232.38.131[/code:1] It's the IP of kde.org. If it works, you only have to set your DNS Server settings using yast. Dim
Hi, I don't know the reason, but perhaps you can use another Program? Have you tried tvtime or xawtv? A lot of people prefere tvtime. Dim
Same Problem as above: your kde include Files are not installed. Dim
Please don't crosspost!! Dim
Quoted You will need the Keramik-Theme Well there are also other themes you can use like liquid, plastik etc etc. You can change this in the kontrollcenter->Design-> Style->Effects (the names may differ a litte, because I'm not using englisch) Dim
Hi, that means, that you haven't installed some devel packages. These development packages include the headerfiles of your libraries. As lots of users will never compile a program but user rpm instead, installing these packages by default would be a waste of space. I don't know which distro you are using, but search for a package like xfree-devel or something similar. You may need some other devel packages as well. Dim
Hi, I'm not sure if I understood you, but you can use a background in kicker. Go to kde-look.org and search for some. Perhaps this may be youre solution. Dim
Hi, the best way ist to rename your local kde profile. It's a hidden file and is named .kde (or kde 3.1 or something similar depends on your distro) Rename this direktory (note you korganizer etc things are stored there!!) and restart KDE. Dim
Well it looks like SuSE doesn't provide 3.1.4 packages yet and I didn't found another source. Dim
Quoted So...my question; how do I install a downloaded distro? Well MDK provides ISO Images. Burn them on a CD and restart you PC that's it. SuSE doesn't provide ISO's (only the SuSE Live Eval, but it's not installable) You have to download it via FTP on you computer. And RH? Well I don't know. Dim
Hi, I heard, that MDK offers KDE rpm's for paying clients only. But perhaps that's wrong... Well updating a rpm Distro with tarballs is not very easy. At first you have to install the development version of many Programs like X. Then you have to get the QT 3.2.2 Version and compile it. Take a close look at the readme files and be sure that you enable everything you need. Then you have to download the source from kde.org. I think they have a little howto. But be aware, that compiling kde from sou...
Hi, may be it's a litte different in mandrake, but open the KDE kontrolcenter -> Desktop -> Behavior and disable the checkbox "Display devices on desktop" Dim
Hi, by default the development packages (sources) are not installed. You have to do it yourself. Open you packagemanager and search for something like xfree-devel (or only devel) Install it and it should work. Dim
Hi, here the actuall packages available for slakware are listed: http://www.slackware.org/pb/search.php?vers=slackware-current&string=kde It you want to use 3.1.3 you have to compile it yourselv or wait until a package is available. Dim
Hi, I don't know which package format Vector Linux is using, but it seems you are issing some dependencies. You have to install the QT Libraries (Version 3.1.2 not 3.2!!!) Dim
Hi, I also had this problem a half year ago. I don't know why, but you can select another font in konsole (right click->properties->Fonts) select another non proportional font (perhaps you have to try a bit) and everything will go well again and you can keep your AA desktop. Dim
