Thank you forthe reply. I played around and finally found out that you need to give the full path to the file like this : "mozilla /usr/share/manual.html" in order to startup mozilla with the specified html file. Thanks once more for the idea. Best regards Nils Valentin
Hi everybody, I would like to pass a startup option to mozilla when starting from a command line. I was thinking about specifieng a html file f.e in the current folder which the Mozilla applicaton will show after the startup. I tried shell> mozilla < testfile.html but that doesn't work. Also using any other browser would be alright of course. I would appreciate any replies and ideas. Best regards Nils Valentin Tokyo/Japan
I added a screen shot on my personal page and will make a manual until July 2003 describing what and how I did it. http://www.knowd.co.jp/staff/nils Best regards Nils Valentin Tokyo/Japan
Hi Alex, I hope thats not a "stupid" question, but how is the script to be used ? Do you call it from gphoto2 ? Any reply would be much appreciated. Best regards Nils Valentin nils(at)knowd.co.jp
I know that Opera effectively stops such popups easily. It has a specific option for this. I know it is not the answer you are looking for, but I hope this helps you. Best regards Nils Valentin Tokyo.Japan
Hi Dimitri, I tried everything but no success, seems like I have to wait for the developers ;-) to make one. gphoto2 has a huge list of devices but none of them is working with my camera (i actually tried most). Also mounting it did not work. I will have to keep an eye on it.
Hi Hardware fans ;-) I am trying to figure out how Linux is using the memory. I realised that on my computer f.e Dell Inspiron 2600 Laptop sometimes the processes are lightning fast and sometimes slow. When I do a "top" then I can see that anytime it is fast it uses most memory and only a bit is left free, while when its slow it shows still a lot of free memory, but doesnt use a lot. This are just 2 lines of the output from the top-command Mem: 506540K av, 383484K used, 123056K free, 0K shrd, 41...
Thank you for the reply I will try it within the next 24 hours and let you know if it worked. I actually didnt think about mounting it as a mass storage device, but seems to make sense. Gphoto2 does not contain any driver so far (not for USB) I didnt try the serial ports ;-). Thanks for the reply so far.
Hi KDE fans, Did anybody already sucessfully connect the Ricoh RDC-7s digital camera to a linux box ? Any advice much appreciated. nils(at)knowd.co.jp
I downloaded and installed KDE 3.1.2 for Suse Linux 8.1 which seeems to run fine. I rotated the first monitor output 90 degrees to the right to be able to read a whole A4 page (for DTP). However Kmail and Konqueror dont like it so much and lock me out anytime I try to use the programs. Konqueror works fine in the rotated mode as a filebrowser (file:/) or print job manager (print:/) just when I switch to use it for homepage (http:// or ftp://) then it will successfully close the session and log ...
Thank you for the reply. It is much appreciated. I tried so many things and set so many filters, but... they dont work for the imap account. Thats exactly what I thought, such a pitty. I will try the ctrl-j shortcut thing for the moment as a workaround. Thanks once more for the short and precise info. Best regards Nils Valentin
Hello KDE fans ;-), I have some questions regarding the usage of kmail. 1) How do I browse through the e-mails by keyboard buttons ? I tried the up and down key, but that would actually move the text of the displaye e-mail up and down, I would like to change from one e-mail to another using the up and down buttons, perhaps ther are some settings which I overlooked ? 2) When I create filters (f.e for spam) they are not applied to the incoming e-mails. I use an imap account - perhaps thats why - s...
I think you miss the most powerfull ones. XCDROAST and the command line tools are much more powerfull than any of the GUI tools.
And the winner is... Suse Linux... because it just works. Honestly, the answer is not so easy as it depends of course on your pupose what you want to do. As I am using my computer for work (as a desktop) I want to use the applications and not do a DTP text on the command ine ;-). Bear this in mind when you read my comments below. I have regularly installed Linux on.. not sure lets just say many machines. If you are a guy who likes troubleshooting company specific modified open source code than I...
