KWord - Foreing Language Suport

As far as I know, you can do that by setting the shell variable LC_ALL to the appropriate locale before starting the application. Example: LC_ALL=en_US kword (to be executed in a shell) I think that only works with more recent versions of KDE, though.

Default settings for new IMAP folders in KMail

Hi, How can I define default settings for new folders in KMail? My problem is that I want a number of users to use the PutRepliesInSameFolder setting (among others) for all their IMAP-folders. Unfortunately, the folder entries in kmailrc for IMAP folders are created dynamically only after the folder list has been read from the IMAP server, which makes it impossible (?) to use the Kiosk framework for this particular task. The only solution I can see right now is to write a script/cron job to manu...

KDE URL Restrictions for a specific application

Hi, I am trying to limit kmail's file open dialog (for file attachments) to one directory only (thus forcing users to have a second look at every file they send outside, as they have to manually copy them there first), while still maintaining another, not so tight, set of restrictions for the rest of KDE. Through experimenting, I have found out that by putting no KDE URL-Restrictions section into kdeglobals and one into kmailrc, I can have a set of rules that only apply to kmail. If, though, I d...

Default path for file open dialog in KMail

Hi, Is it possible to set the default directory for kmails file open dialog without affecting the file open dialog for other KDE applications? I have so far found two possible ways to do set the path: - Set the Documents path in the kdeglobal config file. Unfortunately, this affects all KDE applications, not just kmail. - set current working directory to the desired directory. Unfortunately, this would require me to always start kmail from a script. This also wouldn't work if a user decided to s...

What really is groupware?

Hi There has been a lot of mention of the term "groupware" in the community. It is generally presented as "the next big thing", "a real must have" or something along those lines. Unfortunately, the actual meaning of that term "groupware" is still a bit fuzzy to me. Is it just another buzzword or is there a clear-cut definition for this? One particular feature I was hoping for on hearing that word "groupware" was shared email-folders, i.e. the possibility to have certain folders in KMail (or what...

Cotrolling which font(s) KDE uses for foreign characters

Hi, For quite some time now, KDE (Qt) has had that very useful ability to automatically pick single characters that are not supported by the currently selected font from other fonts that do support the respective character set. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a possibility to tell KDE which exact font(s) to use in such situations. My current problem is that, for japanese characters, it seems to be using a font that lacks many characters (the most obvious one being the character for "go" in "...
