RE: Custom 'Stationary' in Kmail?

I am a KMail newbie and learning as I go, so take this for what it's worth: Perhaps you can use the "use external editor" option (Configure KMail - Composer - General), and define your stationery in the external editor? I use plain text, so I've not explored that option...

RE: KMail attachment warning

Well, you could remove "attachment" from the list of words in the auto-detect list, and then not use "attachment" in the message body. I'm thinking "attached" would be more-often used in a message body, anyway (e.g. "I have attached..." or "See the attached file...", etc.). You would just have to make a habit of not using the word "attachment" - which may or may not be feasible. I know next to nothing about configuring KMail beyond what is immediately obvious from the configuration dialogues, so...

RE: KMail: Preview Pane

I would be happy to write a menu button/icon to show/hide the preview pane, although the closest I've ever come to such a thing is making toolbar/menu buttons in MS Office. Might someone be able to point me toward the right resource for making custom menu buttons for KMail? I'd be happy to learn how to do it - and to share it, if there's any interest. Thanks again,

Kontact Address Book: Categories

Following up: I discovered that I can select multiple contacts, and then from the menu: Edit - Select Categories. Just feeling my way around here... when I select several contacts, use Edit - Select Categories... and then select the appropriate category and click OK, I get a message: "Merge with existing categories?". I don't know what this question means, but through trial and error, found out that, in order for the category selection to apply as intended, I must select "Do Not Merge". Can some...

Kontact Address Book: Categories

Another question in my quest to convert from WinXP/Thunderbird to Kubuntu/Kontact: Background: A little over a year ago, I switched from Outlook to Thunderbird. In Outlook, I had categories assigned to all contacts; however, Outlook was unable to assign message filtering rules based upon contact categories. So, I created separate address books for each contact category, and assigned message filter rules based upon those address books. When I switched to Thunderbird, I could still maintain each a...

KMail: Preview Pane

Apologies in advance if this question is covered elsewhere; I searched but did not find anything. I am diving in headfirst in switching from WinXP to Linux (Dell Inspiron 1420N, Ubuntu pre-loaded, running Kubuntu). I was already using Thunderbird in XP, but want to switch to using Kontact in Kubuntu. My first observation/question regarding KMail involves the message preview pane: do any menu commands or keyboard shortcuts exist to show/hide the preview pane? Both Thunderbird (F8 keyboard shortcu...
