One really cool compiz effect missing.

While poking around kde4, I've noticed that kwin4 has a plugin for making windows transparent. However, it only has an option for doing so when they are moved. The one functionality that convinced me to use compiz on such a slow machine was making windows transparent when they obstruct the window that the mouse is above of. Incredible productivity booster that I'd personally love to see.

I am very disappointed

The fact that after major changes to the architecture of KDE the configurability has temporarily gone down doesn't surprise me at all. I personally don't like the menu, for which there will be an alternative, the fact that the desktop doesn't precisely represent the Desktop folder (I keep a lot of files there for quick access) and one missing feature from the transparency effect that vastly increased my productivity with compiz. Performance tweaks and bug fixes will come naturally. The only mist...

Speed SERIUS problem

My computer is a bit old so it's not very useful to know that kde4 runs a bit slowly. I guess you could try playing with the niceness of the WM or the compiling process? Compiz used to have a problem where it clogged up the CPU when any effect was used on nvidia cards, it could be a similar issue.

Dolphin KDE4

I'm mostly fine with Dolphin as long as I don't have to use it. I hope there will be several options for the default file manager: - Dolphin - Konqueror kde3-style - Konqueror with Dolphin embedded (replace the current konq file browser embedded thingy)
