At least in my KDE 3.5, your keyboard is in the selection list. I use a Logitech Access keyboard that has such functions that work flawlessly out of the box. What version of KDE are you using?
Probably you'll need to install timidity++ on your system, as far as I know this is the only way to get your midi-soundfonts working. http://timidity.sourceforge.net/
They're spread all over your kde folders, since every kde-application has it's translations for each language. Installing the kde-i18n package provides these translations for all the apps.
These packages in the /usr/share/i18n folder are system and x-server locales for console-fonts, keyboard mappings and so on. Kde has its own internationalisation packages. You need to install the kde-i18n-3.x.x packages in order to have the languages available in the control-center. Depending on the tools included in your "home made distribution", you may have some additional settings to respect. On my gentoo for example, I have to set the Use flags and Linguas variable first. If you've built yo...
I think that this can be done in the control-center -> Desktop -> Taskbar Change the appearence into "For transparency". If I remember that right, this setting makes the buttons get the same color as the taskbar.
Do the following: In the file /etc/modules.conf change the line Source code 1 alias net-pf-10 ipv6 into Source code 1 alias net-pf-10 off and add the line Source code 1 alias ipv6 off In a console, type the following command: Source code 1 depmod -a reboot your machine might be needed in some cases (I don't understand why), sometimes it's enough to restart your network.
In the Tools menu of your firefox, you find an item Themes, click on it. On the bottom of the pop-up, click the link Get more Themes which will open a browser window. Navigate the extensions, there are a few with specially tiny fonts and icons, like littlefox. Install them by following the instructions, usually just a click on the install link.
In your KDE Control Center -> Regional Settings and Accessibility you can edit all the language settings and keyboard layout. Also, make sure that the package kde-i18n which is implementing the language settings is installed on your system. [off]Si tu as des problèmes pour trouver, mentionne ta distro[/off]
I just looked at my settings wehre I stumbled over a setting in Web Behaviour, there's a checkbox in the tabbed-browsing section that says "Open links in tabs rather than new windows"... seems that this needs to be unchecked.
In your control-center -> Desktop -> Behaviour, in the tab "Icons ..." (sorry, I translate freely from my french vesion), you can choose the items you wish to be displayed on the desktop.
This could be an error (or an intentional thing) in the mouse pointer image. In your control-center, choose another mouse pointer theme, perhaps this helps. If you don't like the ones there, you might also look for some cusom ones on kde-look.org
In the menu Configuration -> Konqueror -> Behaviour you'll find a checkbox "Open files in a new window" (sorry if the labels do not match exactly, I translate it freely from my french version). Check the box and restart Konqueror, this might solve your problem.
You probably have the possibility to use the [ALT]+[F2] shortcut to display your command launcher. If so, you can try to launch kicker (just type kicker in the textbox). If this does not work, type konsole, this will launch a console of course. There you try to launch kicker and see if you get any messages back from the system. With the command kcontrol (in the command launcher or the console), you have perhaps the possibility to change your theme/window decorations in order to restore the windo...
Looks as if you're using a Gentoo system. I have had similiar problems, so I decided to download the alsa source packages directly from the alsa homepage. Compiling them manually helped me to fix the problem. As I updated to the 2.6.15 kernel, I decided to unmerge the alsa-driver and to use the one integrated in the kernel... this works fine for me.
Perhaps it would be useful to fix the error with your kernel rather than use such a workaround? Do you have any error messages in your /var/log/messages that may give a hint?
The configuration file is /etc/X11/xorg.config. On some systems you'll find proprietary configuration tools (like system-config-display on RedHat), others have the xorgconfig included. They need to be launched from a console, with superuser-rights (root). Once your console launched, type su followed by the [Enter]-key. You'll be prompted for the root password (the one you passed to the system during your install procedure). Once you're root, type xorgconfig , follow the instructions on the scree...
Hi splatch, welcome to the forum When an application behaves Like that, open a console and launch it from there. For example with the command: Source code 1 firefox This will launch your Firefox, in the console you'll probably have a few (or a lot) error messages. Post them on the forum and people will help you find the solution. To learn more about the administration of Linux systems, here you'll find some links for the preparation to sites with exercises and tutorials (dedicated to the Linux P...
The driver "nv" is a generic driver for nVidia cards which does not support all the capacities of your specific card. To have full support of all the features of your card, you shall use the "nvidia" module. Before you installed your new 8178 drivers, have you checked if the linux-header package and the kernel sources are on your system? I don't know the kanotix distro, but you might have a package management system with which you can check if they're present. If they're not, do install the corr...
Good luck! And let us know the result!... ...even if a bit of debugging and a bug-report or such would probably have been nice for the Knoppix project.
Quoted Actually I only posted something similer once in these forums Ok, but in a forum, you're meant to add your posts to the initial topic... Regarding your project, I think that you're not aware how much work this represents to coordinate all these apps in a single framework... sounds like mission impossible to me. But good luck anyways...
