Slackware 9.1 for me installed it for the same reason as TheOneBeyond it's not exactly 9.1 anymore. it's got kde 3.3.1 and this brings a lot of upgrades with it samba 3.0.7 kernel 2.6.5 and 2.4.27 (2.6 sometimes is kind of a bitch)
is that how you did it? ./configure && make? even if that had worked, you wouldn't be able to compile kde. see the instalation manual for the correct configure args to ./configure. however, i also tried to build qt on my own and i failed miserably, but that came from wrong prefix arg and so i always got errors compiling kde. then i used the binpackage (slackware) and i found out that's the better way, because make install will not give you everything you need. it gives you libraries but there is...
30 views and no reply. i guess that's a rare problem. i did not solve it. i just compiled kdenetwork with these warnings and it seems to work fine. there were no errors during compilation.
hello world! i've been building kde 3.3.1 and i kept running in to warnings when executing configure. it's always stuff like configure: WARNING: linux/tcp.h: found but cannot be compiled. it also says tcp.h checking usability ... no tcp.h presense ...yes back when compiling kdelibs and base i could make these warnings go away by installing dependencies, running ldconfig, reating some symlinks but this time i'm in trouble. i get the same warning for if_ppp.h these files all do exist and i did com...
that depends on how old your distribution is. if you have to upgrade a really large part of your system just to be albe to compile the dependencies mentioned on the kde-homepage you should not do it.
and where exactly is your problem? ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/qt [opther options] make make isntall INSTALL_ROOT=/tmp/qt-3.3.3 then you change to /tmp/qt-3.3.3 and make a package out of it (don't know how to do it with mandrake) and install it worked for me what about the mandrake package provided at trolltech.org?
