This probably wont help ut I have the "same" type of effect on Mandrake 10.1 using kDE 3.2. Although my KDE desktop is stable during use, when I close down the computer there is a flicker of the Gnome desktop as the Kde desktop disapears, which would suggest that the Gnome desktop is loaded "under" the KDE ? Why I dont know !
Hi Patpi, I dont know where these options came from its just they were there after I installed lame from the mandrake rpm's Sorry I cant help any more Cheers
Mandrake 10.1, Kernel 2.6.8, KDE 3.2.3 I have posted this question in other Linux forums and nobody as yet has been able to help, so here goes. I have a dual boot system with WinXP mainly to support my scanner. If I want to rip a CD in Windows, media player asks the question if I want to listen to the music or rip the tracks. If I say rip then away the drive goes at full speed and I can rip a CD in a few minutes. Whatever I use in Linux - k3b;Kaudiocreator and others - it rips at "playing speed"...
Well, that didn't work - just said it couldn't find the file. I can do it in k3b so that will have to do for now. Thanks for trying to help, Cheers
Thanks for the information. The lame executable is found in usr/bin. When I type in kde-config --path data I get the following /home/bill/.kde/share/apps/:/usr/share/apps/ In usr/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus there are the lame-encode and lame-decode desktop. The last line of the lame encode file is Exec=lame %f `echo %f | sed ' s/\\\\\\\\.wav$$//'`.mp3 Do I need to change this last line ? to point to the usr/bin directory ? Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers
mandrake 10.1, KDE 3.2.3 I want to use Konqueror to compress some *wav to *ogg or *mp3 and in the "right mouse click" menu there are the two options. However trying to do either doesn't work. ogg just doesn't start at all and mp3 says it cant find lame I can load the wav file into audacity and then export as either mp3 or ogg so I know the encoders are working. why not in konqueror ?
Am running KDE 3.2 under Mandrake 10.1 Have lame installed to decode and encode mp3 and works fine under audacity. An option in konqueror is to right mouse click and get an option to change a wav file to mp3 or visa-versa, however when I try to do this I get an error message that konqueror cant find the lame file (error message 'lame %f `echo %f | sed 's/\\\\.wav$//'`.mp3') How do I get konqueror to find the correct location of lame ?
KDE 3.2, Mandrake 10.1, CUPS printing system I have a problem with the print manager in so far as when I send a job to a printer and it appears in the print queue I cannot change its status - such as cancel, hold etc - as a message pops up saying I dont have access to that resource. The manager says that the job is owned by me so whats the problem ? This is a desktop environment with no network. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
