I just had a thought...Since this is a new installation, my machine name may not yet be registered in our DNS server databse....Could this account for the error message I'm seeing?

Thanks for the fast response... I did the "echo tux > /etc/hostname" command upon initial Gentoo installation which configures the /etc/hostname file. I double checked, and the /etc/hostname is populated with my machine name.

I'd appreciate any help you guys could provide. I'm a Network Engineer trying to get KDE 3.2 installed on a Gentoo box.
