CORRECTION: It is " binner" 's advice to "Bannick" I find correct.
If you are running Mandrake 9.2 with KDE 3.1 then bannick is correct in his advice; the development (header) files for bzip2 are not automatically installed under 9.2. Installing these leads to an effortless installation of 3.2 under Konstruct.
make sure /etc/hosts contains the actual name of your computer
the previous suggestion (making sure the actual host is resolvable in /etc/hosts) worked for this installation whereupon we have 4 machines on a Netgear LAN; the 4 hosts are localhost, localhost2, localhost3, etc., and KDE/Konqueror performance fell dramatically when the host names were changed to the above from the default "localhost".
