Hi, it is a trivial thing: I want to input something like "2^3" - but how? If I really put in "=2^3" it gives me something like "true" or "false", but not "8" as result. "=2**2" does not work, too. I didn'*t find anything inside the manual, so does anyone have a hind for me where to look this and these things up? liquidat
The problem depends on the fact that the other side sends the messages with an local coding different from yours. This often happens to Fedora or Suse 9.1 users, who have a utf8 coding. You can open the user-information for each contact which has this problem, and change the coding too iso8859-1, for example. liquidat
Hi, I am behind a paket filter and all ports are blocked, except for 80 (and some other famous). I think all packets are dropped and NOT rejected, so whenever I try to use the yahoo plugin, kopete hangs. Is there any possibility to give kopete (or just the yahoo plugin) a fixed port number? And if yes, how? Or where can I find the plugin or the file which I have to change? liquidat
Well, kopete 0.8beta2 installs its binary into '/usr/bin/kopete', and thats not a path variable, I think. So, in KDE, press 'Alt+F2', and type in this opening box '/usr/bin/kopete' (without the ' ). Kopet would start and shows you everything you want to see. :-) To uninstall the kopete-7.3 rpm, try to type 'rpm -e kopete --test' in a console. It will show you Error Messages or someting like that, if everything goes fine, type it without the '--test'. Good luck, liquidat
Well, the fact, that it first complete the "kopete" and then does not start it is really mysterious - hit tab two times, then it sowhs you what words beginning with "kopete" you can type. Maybe its a directory? The binary is in /usr/bin/kopete, and thats no standard binary path, i think. So you can only start it with typing "/usr/bin/kopete" or through the icon. For the bug: check kopete.kde.org, there will be a bug link on the left side, under development. Go through the bugs listed there, and ...
Well, CTRL+Enter (in german: strg+enter) works to send messages. And it is a often by other programs (KMail), too.
Quoted Original von jgoodwin Cause I want to know how to build and install source code as well as using rpms. If you want to use the self-compiled software as an rpm (very useful to share with other computers or to have an eye on your dependencies), you should have a look at checkinstall. For the make: The Problem is, that somewhere is the string '/home/jez/Download' is given to ar, but it must be '/home/jez/Download Files'. So, a workaround could be to copy all to directory without blanks, may...
Well, you read my posting about the rpm i had build for fedora, didn't you? Why don't you download it and intsall it? Its much easier and looks up the dependencies for you... For your compiling problem: please post some few lines about the first error with "No such file or directory" and the complete line with this error. liquidat
To find your installed files, install the tool 'locate' with yast, then type locate kopete |grep bin and look up where the binary is installed. Maybe you can start kopete 0.8.0beta2 in this way, maybe it helps you to fix some other problems.
Hi, is there any possibility to add the date to the timestaps? Whenever I go through my history I need the date, not only the time at the day when the messages had been posted. I use Kopete 8.0beta2, KDE 3.1.
Well, I think with the release of KDE 3.2 the most Kopete problems will be fixed. And if other people follow the example of flatnick and mine to post the rpms they had build for their distributions, many problems will be fixed, too. So i would wait till the release of KDE 3.2 and then have a look after a month or two, if there are still so many Kopete Posts. liquidat
Hi, I know there would be the new Fedora release in the near future, but I build an Kopete 8.0beta2 RPM for Fedora, cause I had problems with getting Messages by the new ICQ2003b Clients. If you are interested, look it up at http://www.personal.uni-jena.de/~p1woro/computertechnisches.html Let me know if it works! Thx to Flatnick, who helped me with version 7.4!
Hi, just one question: do you have any idea to add not only time but also date to the posted comments? I have the problem that all my logs don't have marks on which days they had been posted, so I need a date. Any Ideas?
You made my day - thank you very much. How did you do that? Which parameters did you use? It works on Fedora, too, so please give the Kopete team your rpm's!
