Konqueror onn Windows

Hi,

First of I love this forums skin!

So, I am a web developer who (like many others) wants to insure my site functions on good browsers (basically anything but IE). I have windows vista (It was a gift, I would have preferred a mac or linux), and on it I have every popular browser. Anyway I've never used konqueror myself, but I would like to insure that my sites function correctly on this browser.

Now to get to the point, can someone please help me install konqueror (just the browser, no the whole KDE thing) onto my laptop. I've tried a few times with no success. Thanks.

AFAIK, currently Konqueror cannot be installed as a standalone program on Windows. But, if you have a few MBs to spare, you can install KDE for Windows (windows.kde.org ) and thereby use Konqueror from Windows. Just follow these steps:

  1. Download the KDE for Windows installer from http://winkde.org/pub/kde/ports/win32/installer/ (kdewin-installer-gui-0.9.2-3.exe works for me)
  2. Select the appropriate directories for installation etc. Important: At the Download Server Settings screen, add the following URL: http://winkde.org/pub/kde/ports/win32/releases/unstable/latest/
  3. Select the above URL and click on Next. After it downloads a list of available packages, select kdebase-apps-msvc. Additional packages (dependencies) will automatically be selected on the next screen. Click on Next.
After it downloads and installs all packages, you can run Konqueror on Windows.

I've done that, but it won't open! everything but konqueror works.

Does it give any error message that a dll is missing?

Here's one thing that you can try: Start Dolphin, right-click on a html/text/image file and click on "Open with", and select Konqueror from the "Internet" section. If Konqi starts up, you can close Dolphin.

As a last resort, you might try re-installing.

Tried and doesn't work. I have windows vista :(

When using dolphin, sometimes kded4.exe crashes.
