No idea how to add an item to the menu.

Ok, I've been trying to add a shortcut on the menu in order to open up firefox that I put in my /opt/firefox/ folder. The problem is, is that it doesn't work at all when I open it. I can open it when I run '/opt/firefox/firefox &' from the terminal. So I have no idea what I'm doing, can someone help me please?
Duly noted.

you can edit your menu with the application kmenuedit.
Look for it in kmenu, or start it from a terminal.
