Kecko???

I've stumbled upon this:
http://dot.kde.org/1094924433/ (basically Konqueror with the Gecko-engine).
Since it's from 2004, I suspect the Kecko-idea is dead.
Or will it be possible to have a konqueror with gecko in the future?

it is possible, we just need to port gecko to Qt.
This is done several times, but only as proof of concept, not as long term solution.
One of the reasons for that is that kde needs cooperation of the mozilla project to create a fully functional and maintainable qt-version of gecko. And for some reason, that cooperation didn't come...

RE: Kecko???

I remember spending a large amount of time trying to find the source code for that, giving up, and only later stumbling on it within kdenonbeta under kmozilla. It hasn't been touched in something like two years now though. And, as Rinse said, it would mostly hinge on getting gecko to build on Qt again. But in a more stable manner this time around. And maintained.

Everything's looking fairly good from what I can see on the webkit qt4/kpart side though, so I'm pretty happy as far as additional rendering engines go.
