Hi, It sounds like your graphics configuration. This means that Tux Racer is not using the 3D accelerator on your graphics card. Double check that you are running the latest drivers for your graphics card. Can you play any other 3D games without any problems? And if so:

For the Commercial Version Download:

http://www.sunspirestudios.com/updates/tuxracer-1.1.1-x86.run

This patch fixes the "Couldn't find missing GLX visual" problem for most users.

You can also have a look at their web site.

http://www.tuxracer.com/index.php?page=faq.php

I hope that this help.

Yea. Butm aybe they'll mkae that a feature for the commercial and not the fee version. If so, that would be an incentive for me to buy it.

I saw a boxed version, and the other characters looked kinda cool too. But I didn't have enough incentice to buy it. Also since I didn't have Linux working very well back them to consider it a gaming machine.

Did you know that you can actully play TuxRacer on Windows too. One of my friends played it here at my place and ordered his own copy because it actully plays on Windows. (The lamer doesn't have Linux)

Yea, I know. I used to play it before I switched over knowing that I won't be bored if nothing else works.

Yeah, but the FPS suffers greatly (even with nearly everything disabled) -- especially if you have an integrated video card, as TuxRacer doesn't really support the full capabilities of such cards.

Presumably it'd run better under nix on the same system. Though, the system I tried it on wasn't much to begin with.

Tuxnet said to check the 3d card... I don't think I have one, unless it's built in. If it is, I don't know what type. If I could fix it, I could play Tux Racer. That would also make Chrominium work at an earthly speed...

Can anyone tell me what 'tux' is about??? Is that latin for 'penguin' or something???
You never know just what KDE means to oyu until you have to use a Linux computer that doesn't have it.

I can't comment on the 3D issues, but here's something about Tux:

Tux is the name of Linux's logo, which is a pinguin. As pinguins, espically this one, look like wearing a tuxedo, someone named it "Tux".

Have a nice day!

That's open to debate ;-)
The page I've mentioned seems to be created by someone who
did some research on the history of Linux and its logo.
Makes an interesting read.

Tuxedo is only one of the explanations.
But maybe more than one is true. SW developers seem to love
plays on words ;-)

Well, I do not know who has named it so. :?: It is not its creator, as he speaks about "Linux penguin": http://www.isc.tamu.edu/~lewing/linux/

I just love tuxracer. Great graphics and some nice tracks. It could use some more variety, however.

I love it (it's sad, but it's the main reason I upgraded my graphics card ^_^)
Just wish it had more music (it gets a bit monotonous after a while...)
