Kopete - unable to connect to MSN with 0.8.2 v. on KDE 3.2

Hi,

I'm facing some kind of problem I could not yet identify.
Installed Kopete (default version with Fedora Core 2) and tried to connect to MSN.
My account settings (user/password) are ok, I have no firewall up yet, but it does not connect (does not initiate session and throws an error like "conection time expired..").
Same problem happens with two other clients (gaim-amsn), so it seems to be a problem between my linux and MSN.

Is there any particular package required for this to work that I missed?

Thanks a lot for your help.

You can try to use "netstat --inet -p | grep kopete" (not sure about this) to show what connection kopete is trying to make.

Maybe some configuration setting is leading them to a wrong server.

thank you, I did what you recommend and got this output:
***********************
[ariel@todos ariel]$ netstat --inet -p | grep kopete
(Not all processes could be identified, non-owned process info will not be shown, you would have to be root to see it all)
tcp 0 1 todos.silari.org:32938 messenger.hotmail.:1863 SYN_SENT 2609/kopete
***********************
It seems to me that the server is not fully correct, do you know how to set it to messenger.hotmail.com or the correct one?

Regards
Ariel

I don't know if this works bu try to put the following line in the file '~/.kde/share/config/kopeterc' in the MSN Protocol section.
[code:1]PluginData_MSNProtocol_serverName=messenger.hotmail.com[/code:1]

Oops!

In my last post I didn't state that the output from de "netstat...." command remains the same than before adding the line to kopeterc file.

I'm having the same problem. I tried what was suggested but to no avail either. I also hope someone has an answer to this problem.
