Kpilot - Sony Clie via USB

Hi,

I have a Sony Clie (PEG-TJ25/E1) and I am trying to syncronize the data with Kpilot on KDE 3.2.1, but I don't have any success.

When I connect the PDA with the computer and press hotsync, I can see it in Yast2 (SuSE) in Hardware-Information this:

38: USB 304.0: 0000 Unclassified device
[Created at usb.113]

USB Device status: no driver loaded
Speed: 1.5 Mbps
Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown
Attached to: #36 (Hub)

I tried to connect to the Palm using these Devices:
/dev/ttyUSB0
/dev/ttyUSB1
/dev/ttyUSB2
/dev/ttyUSB3
I get no connection at all.

My Computer has only 2 USB-Ports. (IBM Thinkpad R40)

I read in other boards, that you can see the used device using the command: modprobe visor in root, but the computer shows nothing, also no error message.

Maybe somone can help me?
Thanks, Jan

I'm running SuSE 9.0 Pro with KDE 3.2.1. My PDA is the Sony Clie PEG-SJ30/U. The only way that I've been able to consistently sync my PDA using KPilot is to:
1. Start KPilot.
2. Press the sync button on the cradle for my PDA.
3. Let the sync fail (or just hit cancel after KPilot says "Device link ready")
4. Exit KPilot.
5. Start KPilot up again.
6. Press the sync button on the cradle again.

At this point, my PDA & KPilot will begin the sync process.

Also, I've got KPilot pointing at /dev/pilot which is a symbolic link to /dev/ttyUSB1 (I think; but it could be USB0).

Hope that helps you some.

Sony Clie via Kpilot

I'm using SuSe 9.1 with KDE 3.2.3 to link to my Clie. I have had no real problems with syncing. Kpilot is using /dev/ttyUSB0

Perhaps an upgrading your software might help!

I have a Clie 615c. In order to get it to hot synch I had to connect it to my USB hub and use dev/palm.
