Movies in Linux

I have Linux Red Hat 9.0
Tell me please with what program can I watch movies in Linux.And where and how can I start it?

chances are that there is nothing substantial already installed for you.

use either xine, or mplayer.

however, compiling them will take a while.
before you compile mplayer, make sure you get all of the codecs first so that you are able to play the newest videos such as Sorenson 3 Video.

you can also use vlc (http://www.videolan.org), and no need to compile it.

you probably have not looked at this post, for a while but you can download rpms for nightly builds of xine including lib-css (for decrypting dvds) and install them easily in rh9 ( not a big fan of rh myself, KDE mangelers)

disclaimer: it may or may not be legal in your country,

just google for xine with css

If you want to play DVDs make sure DMA is enabled for your DVD drive or else it will be choppy to watch.
