Problem with umask Help me!

I have a problem with umask . In a console if i set umask to 0007 and create a file (echo > p) for example p is rwx------ . But if i work on kde or if i launch kde and , with kwrite for exmple , create a file this file is rwxr--r--. Why ? kde use another umask and where can i find it? thank'you

I have set umask in bash_profile . Kde start with kdm or i login in console and after start kde with startx

As far as i know, the .profile and bash_profile are only used, if you do an login at the commandline, and not if you do an grafical login.
