Im mandrake 9.1, every mounted device has its own icon on my desktop and I dont like it. I am unable to rename the icon, and i am unable to delete the icon from the desktop without unmounting the drive.

may be it's a litte different in mandrake, but open the KDE kontrolcenter -> Desktop -> Behavior
and disable the checkbox "Display devices on desktop"
