Konsole font acting screwy and I can't change it.

I'm trying not to act like a total newbie, as I searched for this font problem and didn't see it discussed. Relevant data: KDE 3.1.3 running on FreeBSD 4.8-stable installed from the ports collection.

I'm finally taking the time to catch up with modern desktops (my old windows manager hasn't been updated since 1996), and I'm trying to get a solid feel for KDE, Gnome, and the like.

While I was playing around (turned antialiasing on to see how much of an effect it had), my Konsole's suddenly changed fonts from this nice, reasonably sized, and readable font to some ugly font that stretches the window out to the full width of the usable area (I've got Kicker on the right side) and it can still only fit 79 characters in that space. Turning antialiasing off had no effect.

I can't figure out where this font is coming from. I can't find anywhere in the configuration where Konsole picks the font it uses (other than the size), and the only font that seems reasonable under the font preferences is the fixed width font. I've tried changing the fixed width font, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the font that Konsole has been using since it freaked out.

What am I missing here? I've got other Konsole issues, but I'll save them for other posts.

After fighting with it for a while, I gave up and did "rm -rf .kde*"

I'm fine again, I can play with fonts to my heart's content, but I am *NOT* touching the antialiased fonts checkbox again :)

Hi,
I also had this problem a half year ago. I don't know why, but you can select another font in konsole (right click->properties->Fonts) select another non proportional font (perhaps you have to try a bit) and everything will go well again and you can keep your AA desktop.
