So 'you' does not really apply on any of the audience over here, i don't expect the developer of that feature reads this forum.

You could create a bug report against konqueror at bugs.kde.org requesting for this feature to be configurable.

tha way you can be sure that the proper kde developers are reading it and you can follow the progress of your request online at bugs.kde.org

Wrong, nearly every software project makes assumptions for the user. This is not Microsoft only, look at Gnome (which is much worse in that aspect than KDE).

KDE generally offers you far more control than our neighbors (bluntly GNOME or Windows), by giving the user the choice to move, copy or link (in your example).

If you wish to define every tiny little bit of the desktop fine, but 98% of the users don't care about these options. It's not likely the original developers will work on that, unless someone of the remaining 2% supplies a patch.

I hate to revive an old thread like this, but I have similar issues with this design and wonder if there are alternatives / work-arounds?

The type of work I am doing requires discriminating, manipulating, and copying thousands of small files individually (one at a time) and the pop-up menu disrupts the workflow immensely. Using the keyboard shortcut is also very awkward because ctl is used for selecting multiple files. So for each file it is either extra keyboard taps or extra clicks to deselect and reselect. It might seem like a small thing to complain about, but it adds up to thousands of extra movements.

I don't quite understand your problem. As far as I can see CTRL + click selects but CTRL + C/X/V does not interfere with the selection process... What am I missing?

I'm having the exact same problem.

I don't use GUI interfaces to do file manipulation as a general rule. But today I am.

The problem I have is this: If I have a file that is in one directory, and I drag and drop it to another directory, KDE ALWAYS asks me if I want to copy it, move it, link to it, etc, etc.

Why is there no default action?

At the very least it should be possible for a knowledgeable user to configure the default action that they want. (And I don't mean by twiddling a hidden entry in ./kde/share/config/xyz1234)

Short of that, a key+mouse combination that will allow users to EXPLICITLY choose which action they want to perform will suffice. For the life of me, I cannot find any such key+mouse combination.
