[unstable] kde 4 building

hello.
I am, in many ways, new to kde.
I now want to use Qt4 on linux, with kdevelop.
But, kdevelop3.x keeps messing up..

and i am also very intressed in kde4.
that's why i want a kde unstable account.
(i already found out i could only let one user run it :) )

But, some problems on the way.
The resources 'bout it on kde.org are using SVN.
i have absolutely no experience with it, and therefore i did not succeeded in building it.

i didn't even come to downloading source code.

Does there exists a guide which says all things to do,
or is is espacially made for users who have experience?

one way or another, i'm now looking through svn.

Hope you'll help me.

pm: i am using kubuntu 6.06 (dapper drake )

RE: [unstable] kde 4 building

If you're new with Linux, I wouldn't spend to much time with getting KDE 4. It's not worth the effort right now because it looks and feels like a broken KDE 3. It is really for developers and not intended for users.

Still, if you persist, you should follow the guide explained on the KDE wiki: http://wiki.kde.org/tiki-index.php?page=KDE3To4

Well, i'm not new to linux.

I just did not explored lots of it, that's what "in many ways" means.

For example, it goes about subversion, which i did not knew.

anyway, going to checks that guide.

thanks :)

edit: first thing i am encountering is this:
it uses a 'svn' command, which i do not have.

i run kubuntu dapper drake, does anyone knows the correct package for apt?

Or even better use this guide which is an up-to-date summary of different sources.
