"Pager" (virtual desktops) does not stay in place

Hi All!

I got a weird problem in Kde 3.5:
I use Pager in the middle of Panel (botton of the screen) in order to manage my 4 virtual desktops. To the left I keep Kmenu and some applications icons. To the right I keep Taskbar and applets. I usuallly configure Taskbar to show only the windows that are open in that specific virtual desktop. What is happening to me is that every time that I change desktop, the size of the area taken by Taskbar changes according to the number of windows in that desktop, and then Pager moves to the left or right. ?(
I always liked to have my virtual desktop control static in the middle/botton of the screen more or less like in CDE (typical Solaris, Open VMS or Tru64 desktop).
I always had this kind of configuration since Kde 2, and I never had this problem before.
I already tried the (new) feature called "lock" available in Panels menu, but even when "locked" , Pager and the aplication icons keep moving right or left according to the area taken by Taskbar.
I already tried to find settings in KDE control center regarding this problem but I cannot find any.
Is there any way to configure this "auto adjustment" that seems to be new in Panel?

Thanks for any input on this issue.
