[kopete] sort contact list by away status? (e.g., put away people on bottom)

strange, i just logged on today and it ordered them correctly. until people started going on and offline, at which point they got all into crazy orders... probably a known bug here, i see some old bugs filed on contact list sorting that haven't been resolved or assigned, but it's probably in the works.

KDE4 - the great disappointment

i hate to bump this thread up more (since i'm not a fan of bitter posts, which this seems to have a number of), but just wanted to say i'm truly falling in love with kde4. i made the switch at 4.0.4 and was a bit frustrated at first (lots of dolphin crashes, performance issues with nvidia cards even though this wasn't kde's fault, still frustrating...), but now on 4.1.3 and just finding it awesome and these issues are all fixed for me! and i'm finding more features/discoveries all the time - for...

[kopete] sort contact list by away status? (e.g., put away people on bottom)

I searched and saw old thread on sorting contact lists alphabetically, but I'm wondering about sorting by status - basically there are 20 or so contacts of mine that are away at any given time, and another 20 or so that are present. I just want the present ones at the top, then the away ones (and the offline ones not shown at all, which works well). I can't find a way to do this - am I just not finding the configuration setting in Kopete or is this not possible in Kopete? Thanks, jetpeach Kubunt...

some config problems

can you be more specific when you say you try to change "the default icon pic"? for adding the widgets, you clicked add widget in the dialog popup and the red minus sign is lit up but the widget still isn't there? i'm guessing perhaps the red minus sign isn't lit up meaning the widget may not have been added. don't drag and drop it, try just clicking the add buttom - i found drag and drop a little hard because there are many places you aren't allowed to drop it...

KDE4.1 Install Problem

so at the login screen, there is the session you can choose, you have tried both kde3 and kde4 there and after logging in you get a sigsegv for both? that would surprise me a lot, since kde 3.5 should definitely still work unless something really went wrong during your other installs with adept. which other installs? did they appear to properly configure/install? a simple test, if you have not configured anything in your KDE4 desktop (sounds like you just installed it), then try deleting the kde...

A Linux distro where KDE4.1 is part of the standard build?

check kubuntu.org for the info about the release of 4.1 for it. you have to add one repository to your sources list, but doing that and the install process are completely trivial. what hiccups did you have? perhaps we can help with those... but for what you're saying, for it to be the standard build, you'd have to go with kubuntu 8.10, which is in alpha. it actually defaults to kde4, see notes: "The third alpha release for Kubuntu Intrepid is available now for early testers. This release uses .k...

Kickoff configuration?

oh yes! that's awesome! i didn't think to look/try grabbing the corner since in 4.0 it was in the options menu...this is a definite improvement. simplier than i could've asked for too.

many problems with kde4.1.0

1. plasma crashes every time I click on the 'preview' tab of the icon properties. which distro are you using? is your strigi up to date? i don't have this problem, running kubuntu 8.04 with the 4.1 sources 2. desktops are not restored properly during session startup. konsole windows are restored only on one of the desktops. Other desktops lose their konsole windows. This is basic desktop mgmt! basic but i'm guessing it may not fully implemented. i also believe session management things are large...

Kickoff configuration?

i believe these options aren't yet available. i think kickoff is still under pretty heavy development, and they were just able to get it stable/better performance or 4.1, but haven't yet been able to bring back the configuration options they need. i feel quite certain these options will be back for 4.2, and hope to see them sooner... _if_ somebody does know how to configure it, do let us know. i'd like to change the height of kickoff to make it show more entrees so i never need to scroll up or d...

Configure Kickoff

along these lines, i thought in 4.0 kickoff had an option to change the number of entrees listed (effectively allow you to make it taller so scrolling up and down wasn't as necessary). is this option gone in 4.1 as well? on another note, i wish bugs.kde.org was easier to search - i would search for a bug there and if it wasn't already in, request this feature again, but bug searching is virtually impossible for me using that UI. i can never find anything, or else i find everything!

KDE4 Functionality

noto change the clock to 12 hour time, in the systemsettings use the regional configuration icon and change the time format globally. agreed, this could be easier...i'm sure it will happen in time now that i've adjusted to the idea of the new desktop (not being a folder anymore, but more a posterboard to stick links, images, notes and such on, i'm truly loving it. pictures of my cat automatically rotate in one widget on the top left, then 2 other widgets show my desktop folder and home directory...

krita text editing

please vote for this here. they're saying it's resolved because you can somehow do it using an embedded kword, but really this is needed functionality - whatever the default text made needs to be editable! http://bugs.kde.org/votes.cgi?action=show_bug&bug_id=124850

howto run bash script from new media detected dialog

well i tried playing around with these desktop files to get this to work, couldn't figure it out. can anybody give an easier solution to this? it just don't get why it complains at all, what's the difference between executing a program and executing a script? why shouldn't the storage media handler be able to do both?

howto run bash script from new media detected dialog

This seems like it should be so simple, i think i'm just missing some command. When i plug my ipod in, i would like the dialog that shows up to list a choice where one is to run a script i wrote (it syncs my google calendar to my ipod). So i go in Kcontrol and go to storage media->notifications, and add a new notification where the command is "/home/jet/myscript.sh" where my script resides. now if I hit alt-f2 (run command dialog in kubuntu) and type this command exactly then the script runs fin...

RE: How to see new hard disk

I just installed a new disk as well, and I'm wondering what the easiest, preferably GUI, way to set it up is. In the KDE control panel, disk and filesystems has some options but it's not particularly clear to me what I should do to format, partition and mount the disk. Is there a good program to do all this easily? Thanks for any help, jet

koffice (lib kofficecore): ERROR: Couldn't find the native MimeType in kspread's desktop file. Check

thanks for the advice taylor. yeah, it should be taken care of dependencies - I've hesitant to file a bug report though because my system has been hacked quite a bit. It was originally a gnome install, then I tried to remove as much of gnome as possible (didn't like the application clutter) and then I had to reinstall some gnome apps again etc ... well what do you know, I just tried it again today and it works! jet
