tried the snv and make fails

I followed the instructions as posted earlier and it worked right down to the make. When I type in make and hit enter I get this... make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. I am using SuSe 9.2 and KDE 3.4 can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I really want to get this updated and working again.
