Kmail crashes after syncing mail directories

Hmm, this is getting more serious. Just backed up my maildir, in which I have no problems accessing Mail/inbox/cur, but when I start up kmail, I get the errors mentioned before, and I can't access Mail/inbox/cur anymore: Source code 1 2 3 4 5 6 mylogin@mypc~$ ls -l Mail/inbox/ ls: cannot access Mail/inbox/cur: No such file or directory total 8 d????????? ? ? ? ? ? cur drwx------ 2 mylogin slocate 4096 2005-07-08 13:23 new drwx------ 2 mylogin slocate 4096 2008-04-24 10:24 tmp Is this an nfs prob...

Kmail crashes after syncing mail directories

Hi all, Ever since upgrading from Fedora 6 to Fedora 8, kmail has been crashing a lot. It runs fine for some time, but after a while when opening a folder or subfolder, I get an error popup of the type: Source code 1 Error opening /home/myhome/Mail/sent-mail/cur; either this is not a valid maildir folder, or you do not have sufficient access permissions. This then happens a few times, and after a short time, I get a different error popup, and kmail/kontact crashes: Source code 1 KMail encountere...

Printing custom paper size

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out how to set up kde to print on custom paper sizes. I want to print an invitation on 26x13.5cm cards, so I designed it in inkscape and saved it as a pdf in the correct size. But I'm clueless as to how I can get kdeprint to print this. I set Properties->General->Paper Source to Tray 1 (Manual), which is the manual feed, but Paper Size is restricted to a number of standard sizes, no possibility to use a custom size or simply ignore and use whatever gets picked up by ...

Kpdf doesn't use printer settings

I recently installed an HP 2605DN network printer using kubuntu's printer wizard. I changed the default papersize (letter ->a4) and tray, and turned on the duplex module. These settings all show up in the control center printer settings as well as in the cups webinterface, and work well when printing from kate, openoffice and xpdf. However, when I try to print from kpdf or acrobat reader, the printer shows an error message asking for letter paper. Acrobat's printer dialog shows the original defa...

Kontact error on login

Hi all, When I log out of my account, I don't shut down kontact for obvious reasons. But instead of nicely starting up the next time I log in, most of the time kontacts shows the following error window: Source code 1 2 3 Kontact already seems to be running on another display on this machine. Running Kontact more than once can cause the loss of mail. You should not start Kontact unless you are sure that it is not already running. Then I need to press exit, wait a minute, and restart kontact. I do...

RE: Can't set wallpaper

Same problem here, though I didn't install beryl. I got the problem since I changed my multiple screen setup (2 screens in xorg.conf, one on my monitor, the other my TV, no Xinerama or Twinview). Strangely enough switching to a single screen layout again didn't help. Even stranger, I can set backgrounds on my second screen (TV), but not on the monitor. Bug in 3.5.6?

Spell checker won't work

Bump. Come on guys. Any ideas on where the PATH for A/Ispell is set within kde apps?

RE: Partitions won't automount

Ok, got the answer here. Apparently, it's an order issue. The partitions which didn't get mounted were listed in /etc/fstab before the /home partition, meaining they failed to mount because their directories didn't exist yet.

[SOLVED]Partitions won't automount

Hi all, I have some problems with mounting partitions, and I'm wondering whether it is related to the automounting in kde (hald??). I'm running kubuntu edgy, btw. Spell checker won't work

Hi all, I'm using KDE 3.5.5 on Fedora Core 6, and I've got problems getting the spell checker to work. When I run "Tools->Spelling" in kate or kile, I get the following error popup: Source code 1 The spelling program could not be started. Please make sure you have set the correct spelling program and that it is properly configured and in your PATH. When I look in "KDE Components->Spell Checker", I see the following settings: Dictionary: ASpell DefaultEncoding: US-ASCIIClient: ASpell Changing "AS...

Kontact and KWallet

Hi all, I'm having trouble figuring out how kontact and kwalletmanager work together. On my old gentoo system, kwallet managed the passwords of 3 email accounts and 2 nntp acounts, without problem. I recently installed kubuntu edgy, and my old setup stopped manageing the email accounts (so I had to fill in 3 passwords). Originally, kontact/kwallet asked automatically whether I wanted to manage the account with kwallet for every authentication popup, but this time this only happened for the nntp ...

Konqueror opens directories with Kate

Hi all, I have a weird problem: when I try to open a directory in konqueror, it tries to open it in Kate, resulting in an error: Quoted The file 'file:///myhome/somedir' could not be opened: it is not a normal file, it is a folder . I can get into a directory by calling e.g. 'konqueror ~/', but when I click on a subdirectory, I get the same problem. I'm working on a newly installed Fedora Core 6 system (on which I'm not root). I guess this is some kind of file associations problem, but I can't r...

Out of office reply for POP3 server

Hi all, Does anyone here know if there's a way of setting up an out of office reply for a POP account? Kmail has the Tools->Edit "Out Of Office" Replies function, but that tells me to set up the IMAP server's Filtering. Is it possible to do this with POP at all, with or without Kmail?

Kdm switch user: no window borders

Hi all, I have a really weird problem: when I try to log multiple users at the same time into kde (or multiple sessions for the same user for that matter), all sessions after the first show no window borders. Only one workspace shows up too, most likely a related problem, I guess. I started having this problem when I upgraded kde to 3.4 (worked fine before that, though some config file editing was necessary to get it to work), but I didn't do anything about it then. Now that I have upgraded to 3...

RE: FTP login from Konqueror URL, with an email address as username

Quoted Originally posted by mart_k Ok: it tries the user anonymous. You can also try: ftp://foo@ftp.server.orgftp://"user@domain":password@ftp.somedomain.org If you use (1) you will be prompted for a password, and hopefully you can also change the username. If you use (2) I hope that by quoting the username, the long username is used. I don't know if one of those two will work, but I think it is worth trying. Too bad, in (1) you can't change the username, and (2) doesn't get processed, just lik...

FTP login from Konqueror URL, with an email address as username

Hi all, We all know and love the feature in konqueror where you can log into an ftp server by typing ftp://user:password@ftp.someserver.org into the URL field. My problem is that the username I've been given for an ftp site I use, is in the form of an email-address. This means that I should type: ftp://user@myemail:password@ftp.someserver.org Two @ symbols in the URL obviously doesn't work. Now, my question is, is there any way at all to use konqueror as an ftp client with this username, or am I...
