Hello, it would be nice if you could add these issues as a bug or wish to bugs.kde.org. That way, it will get noticed very fast.
Maybe it's interesting to check out these two signals: http://doc.trolltech.com/3.3/qapplication.html#aboutToQuit http://doc.trolltech.com/3.3/qapplicatio…astWindowClosed Create a slot to one of those signals and call saveProperties() from that slot.
I think you should add startkde in your users .xsession file. Not sure though. So, open the .xsession file in your home folder, then put the following (and only this one?) in there: startkde
At the moment, there's no windows version of Kopete, at least not that I know of. But chances are big that it will be available on windows some day.
Hmmm... the "steep learning curve" That's not really a great way to compare things. First of all, anyone new to any operating system (including windows) will be faced with a learning curve. And for most users, it's pretty steep as they will need to grasp whole new ideas that are not really common to them. Second, people already familiar with any operating system will find it much more easy to switch to another operating system. It takes a while to get comfortable though. Third, "steep" depends f...
I don't think a .net to Qt converter exists. For adding your application in the "start" menu of kde or gnome, I think you need to use .desktop files: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Standard…_2dentry_2dspec
Do you mean something like this? http://www.skinstudio.net/ but for KDE? As far as I know, there is no such tool. Most themes are written as code. Most people start with copying an existing style and modifying it. I have the idea of creating a similar tool like skinstudio for kde though, but I need to find the time to work on it.
I too think you'll be able to choose what you want. And this is just my guess, it's not a fact.
Wat bedoel je met "werkt" ?
12 hours for a complete KDE compilation is rather fast. On my Pentium II 266 MHz, it takes a day or 2 for a base KDE, no games, no education packages etc... Unfortunatly, gcc isn't the fastest compiler. And what command did you type? What do you mean with that? Do you want to start this new KDE version? Tip: check out the tutorials on http://developer.kde.org/
Have a little bit of patience. Maybe you're experiencing a problem that most people don't experience. This means that it will take a little bit longer to get a valuable answer. And maybe it's worth checking out the mailinglist, or post on the mailinglist, as that's the place the Kopete developers visit the most I think. Otherwise, also check out the #kopete irc channel on irc.freenode.org You'll get live feedback there I guess.
The best way really is to post a wish or bug in bugs.kde.org It's not a fun thing to do though, but you can be assured that the program maintainers read them. They might not post a reply to them like in a forum, but they see what you post. If you do want to get a little bit more feedback, try the kmail mailinglist.
http://developer.kde.org/ But it does not contain everything you ask. Note that there's a University of KDE in the making. http://aseigo.blogspot.com/2005/04/lyceum.html is just a small part of that project.
In the control center: peripherals -> Mouse There you'll see the option to set it to "Single click opens files and folders"
I do not understand backtraces very well myself, but I guess it's something like this: The top line in the backtrace shows where the program crashed, it's not always the place where the error is though, then you have to "trace" back to find the error. But that would not be very easy with the backtraces you posted as they contain very little information. For more information on backtraces: http://shekel.jct.ac.il/cc-res/online-do…b_43.html#SEC43 Since the top in your backtraces show something rel...
Could it be some kind of caching thing going on in the background? I don't see this behaviour on my pc.
Not completely sure though, but it looks like a Qt problem. Did you update Qt too? What version do you use? If you look at the top of the backtrace, you see this: #7 0xb634be0d in defaultTable () from /usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqsimple.so Just a guess though as I can't read those backtraces very well.
First install the NAS library, libnas2 I guess it's called. Also install the development package of the library too of course, as that contains the necessary headers.
