Kopete not showing Devices

Same issue here. Using 0.12_beta 2. My cam is a Creative Ultra NX using the spca5xx driver. Works fine with other webcam apps but not kopete so I know it's not my cam nor drivers. I have configured udev to create /dev/video0 with a symlink to /dev/v4l/video0 as well but this doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

Feature Request: "Map Network Drive"

I'm pretty sure everyone is familiar with the Map Network Drive feature available under windows. If not, here's the scoop.... You access account shares on your network via network neighborhood. You find a share. You right click it. You click "map network drive". You then define the driver letter... It's a really great feature... KDE lacks this. Then install the newest udev, pmout, dbus and hal. Add dbus and hald to your default run level and BOOM.. you're done.. Oh.. Also compile kdebase-kioslaves (kdenetwork package) with hal support. Do this after installing the above.

user images?

I'm trying to locate where KDE stashes the icons for use with the login screen. Any ideas where this might be? I've searched all over but they seem to be hiding from me... The images I speak of are the ones you can select for your user image when you login.. eg: Control Center -> Security & Privacy -> Password & User Account Thanks

kde-look is also down. Both have been down since yesterday, as far as i know. Hopefully they'll be back up soon.

artsd still loading even when disabled...

DOH! I passed by that panel but at the time, for whatever reason, I thought it would disable ALL my sound, including that of my players... Now that I think of it, this panel only controls arts.. Thanks for the help...

no sound with flash/firefox

I doubt it is a permissions issue (but I could be wrong) otherwise you would also get *no* sound with Gnome as the same file (/dev/snd/device) is used system wide. Aside from no sound with flash/firefox, do you get sound with say.. xmms or some other player like mplayer?

Screen Resolution Problem

You'll have to modify your X config file. If you run xorg-x11, then open up xorg-x11.conf (where it is varies by distro but check /etc/X11). Make your way down to Section "Screen". autorun in KDE 3.3

It's actually ~/.kde/Autostart. That's where you need to drop scripts that you want KDE to run on start up. Also, don't forget to make the script an executable.... Source code 1 # chmod +x script_name

Why do you think Gentoo is the future of Linux Distros?

I don't think Gentoo will ever be as popular as DeadRat, Fedora, Mandrake because the process of installing is not something people new to linux can grasp, even at stage 3. Another strike against gentoo is EVERYTHING (with the expection of a few packages) is compiled from source, so time consumption is an issue. In a busines, time == money... Unless Gentoo is able to offer all packages as binary as an option, I think Gentoo will be the "cult" distro for linux geeks and those balsy enough to try ...

Updating Fedora Core

Definately installable on Fedora.. You're probably dealing with an entirely different issue. You might want to post whatever error you recieve when you attempt to install. Also, are you doing a fresh install or upgrading from an earlier KDE version?
