Mmmmhhh... I was going to shout 'DCOP!'... Still, DCOP should do the trick. I don't use Kate, so I don't know it's DCOP interface, but there should be a command in there to focus a window, I guess... Just try some more... And use kdcop, so at least you won't have to type all the commands.
Hi Admiral, Could you be a bit more specific? What would you like to convert your PDFs to? The PDF spec is an open standard, so PDFs can be converted to almost anything... Rob
Hi Phil, I don't know anything about Gnome, so I can't tell you what the differences are in how Gnome supports a keyboard and how KDE does it. You may wish to keep this page as a last resort. Hi Brunnogama, What you could try is start Kopete from the command line (konsole), then type '/media' in the message field, hit the Send button, and see whether error messages appear in your konsole. Rob

First this: in any KDE application, if you ever want to know what application you are using, or what version it is, find the Help option in your menu and select about. There are 2 abouts in your Help menu: 1 for KDE and 1 for the application. Now, back to your question. Admiral, Are you using KDE Control Center (I think you are)? In that case there should be a button Administrator Mode at the bottom of the window. When you hit that button, you will be asked for the root password. After giving the root password, the fields won't be shaded out anymore. Rob
Hi Dag, Go to 'Settings -> Configure KMail -> Accounts -> Receiving -> [your IMAP account] -> Modify' and check 'Automatically compact folders (expunges deleted messages)'. This should do the trick. Rob
Thank you, Ingo. But this probably means FreakGuard is using kdeinit from KDE3 as well, because dcopserver is started, and why would kdeinit4 start dcopserver if dcopserver is not used by KDE4. And if I understand correctly, the apps are also trying to connect to DCOP, so the apps may not be KDE4 as well... FreakGuard, to me it looks like your KDE4 install is incomplete. Ingo, what do you think?
