In My Standard Kde Menu on suse 10.1 the menu does not match the entries shown by kmenuedit. If there is only a single application per submenu it is show directly without the submenu and with only the application description. It should however be "name (description)" The first is very annoing and the second a bug in my understanding. On my computer kwallet (KDE 3.5.x) is used and worked a long time - then suddenly after a restart, maybe after KDE had crashed during shutdwon (which is somhow normal on suse 9.3), kwallet does strange things. Not all old sites have known passworts anymore, and moreover kwallet does not even try to save the passwort. Next kmail does not know any passwort anymore. Disabling kwallet for kmail and use the plain text PW save does not work either. No Server login is possible anymore. With thunderbird...

I have looked at kdar, but that stores into a spezial fileformat. That means that I am locked to unix, since I do not know a windows tool. And there is another reason, I cannot use dar - I cannot access the files directly. For example, if I backup my mp3 then compression is useless and I would want to access the mp3 on the backup medium directly. So I am somehow looking for a programm that creates k3b files for burning with maximum Medium sizes. Matthias
I am looking for some software to backup my data. These are on total 30 GB, so it needs some DVDs to backup everything. I could divide my data manuelly into 8x4 GB chunks und burn them one after the other. Dividing everything into 4 GB parts is a stupid job. I would prefer if there was a programm that would do this for me and just tell me to insert CD 3/6 and 4/6 and so on. I use 3 Identities, have 7 fetch accounts and 3 send accounts. 2 of the send accounts are from gmx.de and work well. The third, which is from my webprovider does not work and results in the message: "Sender address does not belong to logged in user". It however says additionaly that the Transport protocol used is : "GMX" ??? This does not make any sence. Only if I led show 'Sendmailtype' ("Versandart") I can choose 'mail@xxxxxxxxpospiech.de' and then the mail is send. How come that the Identity ...
Any suggestions about the problem that kmix always has not those settings it was closed with before restarting the computer ? It means that _everytime_ I want to here music I have to start kmix an redo all the settings. Matthias

Quoted KMail doesn't display HTML emails by default (for security reasons). Instead, if there is no plain text version of the mail along with the HTML one, it displays the HTML code as is. I have mails that are not recognised as html emails but contain lots of html code - these emails are totally unreadable. somehow I did not see this problem on my own computer yet, so I dunno if its a configuration problem, but it could also be that I exchange emails only with people with 'good' email software... I need to export my settings from MDK 9.2 and to import them in MDK 10. Thus from KDE 3.1 -> KDE 3.2. That means in particular Kmail, Kopete, KNode, Kbear. How can this be carried out ? To configure everything from the scratch would cost me hours! Matthias
I have some wired problems with my kde-configuration. Some file-bindings are messed up, for example html files are not started by konqueror. konqueror-filebrowser does not start etc. It all works again if I delete .kde, but than all other settings are lost as well. so how can I import settings from the new one into the old (overwrite existing) or from the old one into the new one (overwrite new) ? Most important would be kmail, fonts and styles (themes, color etc.) Matthias

Whenever I save a file in quanta it complains that this site was edited by another program (quanta haha) and wants me to compare with the tmp file generated by quanta. I use the grouping of apps in the taskbar. The only problem is that konqueror does not differ between filebrowsing and webbrowsing. But now I have to search for my filemanager as soon as I have a webpage open. This is really annoying. Is there a way to tell kde to act like konqueror-webbrowser and konqueror-filemanager were complete different applications ? Matthias
I use kmail because it starts quicker than evolution, but I am really (!!!)missing Pocomail (www.pocomail.com) from windows. This is the most flexible programm, most featured and fast programm that I have ever seen. And just developed by one person. (I cannot program nor have time to improve kmail) It runs in version 2.x under wine, but unfortunately the fetch mail connection does not work. Matthias
