Compiling Kopete under Mandrake 10.1

Kopete .9 was compatible with QT3.2, but all releases of Kopete after October of 2004 required QT 3.3. 0.9.3 came after the switch and will require QT 3.3

[KOPETE] Yellowdog Linux on PPC

If you download the sourcecode for kopete you can compile it in YellowDog on PPC. The configure script should automatically detect the proper architecture, but if it doesnt you can pass the architecture to the configure scipt like this: ./configure --target=powerpc-linux

error compiling kopete 0.8 on fedora 1 x86-64

You're sure it didnt work when you compiled with prefix /usr/bin? If it didnt work then Im not sure what the problem is, Im assuming you are running the kde installation that comes on the fedora disks, in which case they should be compiled for your athlon64, but just to check all the bases, if it didnt work compiling with prefix /usr/bin, try compiling in 32 bit mode for /usr/bin.

[kopete] Can't install

From a terminal run 'which konqueror'. The output should be /usr/bin/konqueror. Whatever the output is, that would be your prefix minus the 'konqueror'. So if the output was /usr/bin/konqueror you would configure as ./configure --prefix=/usr/bin

[kopete] Can't install

Make doesnt install anything, it just compiles a binary and the libraries. Make Install installs the binary and its libraries to its proper location. Given that you suppllied the configure script with the proper prefix.

Kopete Configure Shortcuts

The settings menu isnt an icon in the chat window, its a topbar menu selection. If your menu bar is missing then your configuration has it turned off and you will have to turn it back on first.

kopete - buddy icons?

I think he means buddy icons for AIM, in which case they are not supported at the moment, and the developer of the kopete aim plugin has made it clear that he does not see buddy icons as a priority for the plugin at this time. Maybe as kopete becomes more stable buddy icons will be added, but for now I wouldnt hold my breath waiting for them.

cant find these utilities

Thats because all those menu items are redhat gui tools and not part of kde, when you installed redhat put those menu items in there for you, but when you upgraded to kde 3.2.1 you now have the standard kde configuration and not the redhat configuration. As for the utilities you are looking for, they are 'redhat-config-firewall', 'up2date', and 'redhat-config-network' from the command line.

Some problems about Kopete

You have to do this from 'Settings - Configure Shortcuts' in the chat window and not in the buddy list window.

Linux x Windows

I believe this topic is better fitting in the 'admin and installation' forum. As for the question, well, there are many differences between linx and windows. First, I would have to assume you are familiar with windows, since most people are, so to get some information on linux, the distributions of it, and the mechanics of it, I would suggest doing some reading on www.linux.org

Kopete 8.0 Comfigure problem: QT

Yes, it does automatically find the headers and libraries, and since it cant find them, you dont have them. You need to download and install the qt development packages in order to compile from source.

I have multiple Yahoo profile id's ???

Actually, i think that feature is just in the way y! im client manages your accounts. I dont think kopete manages them in this manner since it was designed to emulate the icq style.

I have multiple Yahoo profile id's ???

If I understand you correctly, you have two yahoo accounts and want to run them both. All you do is add another yahoo account profile seperately and everything should work fine.
