KDE Upgrade

Upgrading software that is part of the distribution is usually handled by some update or install tool of the respective distribution. You better ask on a CentOS or Redhat support site. Cheers, _

Opera Mouse Gestures in Konqueror

No problem Settings->Configure Konqueror there is a section for web behavior and there is a box with options how multiple window issues are handled. One of the options is to use tabs rather than new stand-alone windows Cheers, _

Just to make sure: with "download and install" you meant that you selected the respective packages in adept or synaptic and had it install them. Cheers, _

Konqueror certificates

Hmm, tough question. I think this qualifies for asking the developers. You can reach the Konqueror developers on the kfm-devel mailinglist. Cheers, _

Opera Mouse Gestures in Konqueror

Middle click on what? Middle click on a link opens it in a new tab and if your settings are to let this be a background tab, it will open it in the background. Cheers, _

kprinter and pdf -> problem

Strange, the dialog I get is a lot bigger. Just in case: from the print dialog you choose "Systemoptionen", then on "Befehle", then choose "Ausdruck mehrere Seiten auf ein Blatt" Then the right most icon "Befehl bearbeiten" tooltip, then again the "Befehl bearbeiten" button Cheers, _

kprinter and pdf -> problem

Hmm, can't you just add "-l" to the command line in the edit field at the dialog's top border? Seems to work for me, i.e. when I click ok and edit it again it is still there. Cheers, _

Proxy Settings

A proxy, e.g. squid, does not need to know about JavaScript, it is always the browser which will evaluate it and request/send data. Cheers, _

i need to add konsole in a application can anyone help me how to do this

I think there is a KPart for Konsole, libkonsolepart Since Kate has an embedded Konsole, I guess that its code has all the details. You might want to ask on the kde-devel mailinglist if you have any further development related questions. Cheers, _

Key navigation problem in the kmenu (Bug or Feature)

A reason could be that the association of key with menu item can not be determined before pressing it, because differently to an application menu there is no visual hint which key activated which entry. Cheers, _

menu and title together in one bar

Something like this will require support in the toolkits, since the application has to support "out-sourcing" its menu to the windowmanager which draws the decoration. Or it would probably only work for KDE applications, similar to the "Mac-like menubar" option. Cheers, _

evolution/revolution

If you have consistent ideas on new artwork, http://www.kde-artists.org/ might be the place to discuss them. As for the application names: it seems application developers have moved away from simply prefixing the name with K but rather integrate it as part of the name, for example by using a word from a different language than English (e.g. Kalzium, Krita) For already existing applications that are just ported to KDE4, staying with the already established name might often be the better choice, f...

What you want from KDE 4

Quoted Originally posted by skyfire hey how many window managers work well with KDE? i.e Metacity works fine with gnome what about KDE.is there any cool window manager is there for kde? I think all window managers that implement the enhanced windowmanager hints should work without reducing the functionality of KDE apps that do not directly depend on KWin (for example using its DCOP interface) Cheers, _

RadeonTool

The locking is achieved by running the kdesktop_lock program. So you could rename that executable, create a script with this name and call the renamed program in there, and place the calls to your tools before and after that. Cheers, _

kprinter and pdf -> problem

When you have the print dialog open, there is a button which lets you edit the printing system options. One such option is "commands" and there you can edit the command for psnup (in German KDE named "Ausdruck mehrerer Seiten auf ein Blatt") Cheers, _
