Just an update on Kword exports as this thread is a little outdated now. I see that you can save Kword documents as Microsoft Write, OpenOffice, HTML, rtf, WordPerfect and AbiWord. Some of these can be opened directly in MS Word by the receiver and saved as .doc, while your other applications can save your document as .doc like OpO and possibly abiword. So it's quite possible today to create MS Word compatible files and also .doc for that matter out of documents composed in Kwrite, just not in o...
To help people with the habit of unsystematically bungeling hundreds of files into the same folder I suggest Konqueror adds an intelligent file tool similar to the workings of the search engine Mooter www.mooter.org that groups hits into clusters after analysing the hits. It's dynamically post-indexing as opposed to Northern Light's static pre-indexing. We have to face that some users are not very systematic minded and KDE should offer to help this group. The idea was inspired by this posting: h...
This time nothing happens when I press 'Look up your ICAO code' Konqueror is supposed to open with a select list of weather stations. KDE 3.2 branch 4 Feb 2004
Quoted Original von browserfan Why do big corporations like Sun support GNOME instead of KDE ? . I believe KDE is the best choice for the many new Linux users we are getting. Coherent and up tp or better than THAT GUY*S old revamped software. All the same, in case the organisation stumbles for any reason, it's advantageous to have a mature alternative ready. Just like Soyuz replaces the Spaceshuttle. Someone major has to support it for base and confidence building but exactly why SUN does, I kn...
Quoted Original von john@ducksolutions.com I do have the thing. I want to upgrade from 3.1.4 to 3.2. but have not been able to find a propper way of doing it. I am an absolute beginner in Linux. Is there anybody who can give straight forward instructions (step by step) - (thinking of a person who doesn't know what ./configure and so on means) I want to run the new Quanta and need 3.2 to have all the features I need. I am running SUSE 9.0 Pro  Please help. hmm, are you sure it's a job for a...
Quoted Original von moltra I am a new linux user. I installed Mandrake 10 everything was working fine. I was looking at the different desktop programs and some how i ended up with just a prompt. How do i get KDE to start up and use it as a GUI. Try issue startx to begin with. Thats the default GUI. Well inside you can select what default GUI to use. You may also have icewm installed or windowmaker already.
Quoted Original von scanwinder I'm trying to install the flash plugin for Konqueror & it gets to the stage where it wants me to put in the plugin directory but i have no idea where it is. I spent about an hour looking for it & i still couldn't find it. Can somebody please tell me where i can find it? Thanks in advance It's the other way around Scanner. You simply need to define the path to the flash plugin in Konqueror and nspluginscan will take care of the rest. In fact I find that Konqueror h...
Well, got this fixed by removing KDE entirely and via http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ connect the package system to cooker for the community version, probably the latest Mandrake. By not using Drakconf but a shell and executing urpmi kdebase-common I got a very basic kde 3.2 installation (branch (04Feb2004) and later added new KDE parts the same way up to the point where dependencies would break. It took a few more twists and turns to get Kmail 1.6.1 on (kdepim parts) but nothing difficult out of the...
I did an upgrade from KDE 3.1.3 (on Mandrake 9.2) to KDE 3.2.0 but now the executable nspluginscan is missing which Konqueror needs to find plugins. Any attempt to fetch it for 3.1.3 suggest to replace the entire KDE installation. How do I get kdebase-nspluginscan for KDE 3.2.0?
Thanks - I have attempted an automatic backup via Webmin on the three.
Quoted Original von zenok ... and I want money, cool cars, house with pool and more! You should know that this is the kde-forum Feedback zone and I dont develop KMail... it's time for board rules! What ever; as long as someone fixes it
Well' I'm glad to see when koffice makes progress and I look forward to much more progress in stability, quality and compability. Hold the features, improve quality of existing application.
While I'm at it, I wish for a one-click action that backups all of my kmail settings, filters and mails on a medium or place of my choice.
If I want to back up (save a copy) of all the user files relating to my kmail (settings, filters and contents) how do I go about that?
I am surprised none of these GPL/Linux forums take the radical step to auto-group postings rather than letting the users enter them in a specific category.
Quoted Original von diffuze Does anyone have a clue as to why KDE 3.1.2 still is unavailable in RPM format for Mdk 9.1? I have urpmi installed with several additional sites, among them Textars on biblio. As I needed some software that were depending on 3.1.4 urpmi collected and installed everything. Works fine.
Quoted Original von seb whilst loading KDE it just hangs. IceWM works fine, ne1 got an answer/remedy? Disabling Supermount for the floppy and cdrom might help. Done in Mandrake Control Centre. Enable USER to mount them in stead.
o, yes there it is :-) At the left in the month window. How could I miss it!
I'm missing the display of the week number in Korganizer.
Quoted Original von stumbles How do I create a filter in Kmail that will delete emails with attachments? As Linux is immune to the prolific e-mail attachment viruses, there is no real reason to filter these, except the size, which is suggested above.
