Which KDE packages need to be recompiled if I upgrade Qt?

I currently have Slackware 10.1 installed on my machine, with an upgraded version of KDE (3.4.0 instead of the standard 3.3.2). It turns out that the bug with KMenu opening in the wrong position is not a KDE bug but actually a Qt bug. If I upgrade Qt from 3.3.3 to 3.3.4, which KDE packages will I need to recompile to ensure that my current theme is supported and that everything works properly? Cheers Amos

Compile QT from source and can't login to KDE

I have had almost the same problem. I'm running Slackware 9.1 too, I upgraded KDE to 3.2.0 ages ago (in the form of .tgz Slack-packs downloaded from a Slackware-current mirror) and recently decided to compile Qt 3.3.2 from source. Everything went fine after a few false starts. Then when I restarted KDE I was able to log in, but I'd lost the cool Keramik style I had set up. After a bit of prodding around I found that I would need to recompile KDE, so I started with kdelibs-3.2.0. After installing...

META sources generation

Does Rebuild Project not rerun them? Or failing that how about changing to the src directory and typing qmake nameofproject.pro at a konsole. Or delete the files and rebuild the project. Cheers Amos

how read MP3 on KDE?

If you mean you just want to listen to it then try xmms, if you actually want to manipulate it then I'm not sure. Cheers Amos

Well I've solved my own problems. 1. The lack of Icons/Images on the web page was due to lack of GIF support in Qt. 2. Recompiling kdelibs and installing it (I actually used checkinstall to make a Slackware package) solved the problem with the styles. Cheers Amos

I'm having a similar problem albeit not on the programming side. I've compiled my own copy of qt-x11-free-3.3.1. When I boot up using that as my copy of Qt I only get a very very poor choice of styles ( 6 I think ), and when loading this page virtually all of the graphics are missing. Is this connected to the fact that I didn't enable the gif option when I configured it? Cheers Amos

Menu "Recently Used Applications" Kde 3.2.1

Try restarting KDE without selecting restore previous session. In other words choose KDE from the menu at the login screen instead of Default. Cheers Amos

KDE 3.2 is out - Will you change?

I upgraded using Slack packages. All I had to do was download all of the necessary packages and do upgradepkg *.tgz in the correct directory. I've done sums which were harder. Cheers Amos
