And in a the same manner, how does one retrive the current wallpaper, again using qdebus. in Kde3 this was rather straight forward with dcop: dcop kdesktop KBackgroundIface setWallpaper wallpaper.jpg 8 dcop kdesktop KBackgroundIface currentWallpaper 0

Adobe Acrobat replacement

Ok, the main functionallity I am after is beeing able to extract and ocfcourse merge pages from different pdf documents. As the the pdf file API is open it shouldn't be so hard to write a program with the above kind of functionallity, wouldn't it?. I thought that the need for editing pdf documents would be quite wide spread. I at least depend a lot on it at work when compileing ducuments (for instance include handwritten test result sheets into a document).

turn off the menu on the top of the desktop

Quoted Original von thuswa [code:1] [Menubar] ShowMenubar=false [/code:1] It is really set to false? BTW i noticed kind of a bug if you try to turn of the desktop menu through the option in the desktop menu under the entry "Desktop". Then it behaves exactly as you discribe. It goes away for a while, and then when you activate another window it comes back again.

turn off the menu on the top of the desktop

Sounds like it is something funny with your config files. Look into. [code:1] ~/.kde/share/config/kdesktoprc [/code:1] This file contains an entry: [code:1] [Menubar] ShowMenubar=false [/code:1] Also look at the permissions to the file. Mabe your change does not get writtten to the file properly.

Multiple button mouse

I have a Logitech MouseManWheel mouse with 4 buttons in total (the middle button beeing the scrollwheel and an additional thumb button). When i use this thumb button in KDE has the same functions as the middle button. How can I assign different functions to the thumb buton? Any ideas? I would for instance like this button to act like "Back" in Konqueror.

Modem conection

Check out: http://www.linmodems.org/ If it is an internal modem it's probably a so called winmodem. See if your modem is listen there. Winmodems are problematic since they are nor real modems. much of the functionallity is run through software which the producer only has made available for Windows.

Re: How to fix "This file or directory does not exist&q

Quoted Original von czgu On my desktop, I see an icon with strange name. When I re-move it, I get "this file or directory does not exist". Even login as root, I still can't re-move it, can't change its name. How can I fix this problem. I just want to delete it. This typically happens when you have strange characters in the file/directory name. Try to delete the file/directory from thw CL using the \ sign before the strange characters.

Kde is slow like hell - riddle

It sounds like the time-out thing for sure. Had a similar problem when I installed Linux at work. I had enabled the option to get the hostname through the DHCP server, which made KDE slow, since the server never delivered a hostname.

Either you have not installed any fonts or the search paths in XF86config to the font libs are wrong or missing. That's my best guess.

Home button in konqueror

Quoted Original von erugger66 If you would like to change the current home button to go to a web page rather than your home directory, just change the Home URL on the file manager tab in "Configure Konqueror." Well. thats allways an option. However I would rather have both at the same time. Or at least keep having the Home button to take me to ther home directory when Konq is run as file browser. Adding one "start page" button would be what i prefer. Anyone?

A silly question really. Is it possible to add an home button (button that takes you back to your prefered startpage) on the main toolbar?

Re: Philips PCRW1208

Quoted Original von Rick Kelly Best solution: Get the source code from k3b.sourceforge.net, and compile it yourself. Install it over the SuSE version... SuSE disabled some features in k3b they think are unsafe, but are needed to enable burning CD's by non-root users. Well, that's intresting. I have burned CD's using k3b (on SuSE 8.1), and it has been working fine so far. But If I encounter some problems in the future I've a better guess why, thanks to your comment. Let's try breaking it!

What are these lines HP/MP/EXP (in post/profile)

This MP thing, isn't it possible that this will cripple the level of activity in this forum. I haven't been around for so long but the activity here seems to be (parden the expresission) pretty lame. Except for this the forum is VERY nice I must say. Great work!
